We live in a great little neighborhood in the Twin Cities area that is quiet and tucked away, yet close to a ton of activities. You can’t go far without running into a park or a walking trail, which we take advantage of often. We look forward to sharing with a child all the great experiences our area has to offer, from zoos to museums to neighborhood events. We have wonderful neighbors who look out for each other, lend a hand whenever needed and even deliver cookies on occasion. Our neighbors range widely in age but there are a number of families with young children on our block.
Our comfy, three-story home has four bedrooms and three bathrooms. We spend most of our time as a family on the main floor, where we cook meals, watch movies and play with the animals. During the spring, summer and fall, you’ll often find us in our fenced-in backyard grilling out, doing yard work or just soaking in some Vitamin D.
Our families are central to our lives.
We’re lucky to have two amazing sets of parents who continue to provide us with unconditional love and encouragement, both as individuals and as a couple. We were raised to be strong, responsible, kind and passionate people, and are truly grateful to them for helping us become who we are today. We feel endlessly lucky to have them in our lives, but even more so feel lucky for the grandchild they will love with all their hearts.
Garret’s parents and sister both live within 15 minutes of our home so we get to spend lots of time together, which includes getting together for breakfast almost every Sunday. Garret’s sister - who is certain to be one of the world’s greatest aunts - is a huge part of our lives and we share all kinds of fun adventures together. Most of our time tends to take us outdoors and usually in a dog friendly environment.
Emily’s parents live a few hours away in Wisconsin. We visit each other often and talk on the phone weekly. Emily’s brother, sister-in-law and adorable niece and nephew live in Los Angeles, so trips to sunny California happen as often as we can swing it. Emily is fortunate to have a very large extended family with lots of aunts, uncles and cousins, which makes for many lively and joyous holiday gatherings.
