We live in a beautiful three bedroom home with a nice backyard as well as a finished basement that Trent and his Dad finished. We love that our home is on a quiet street with very little traffic and lots of kids! Our subdivision is very family focused and only a few blocks from the highest rated grade school in the city. We are within walking distance of a few parks and a bike trail that runs throughout the community.
We love the small community feel that our city has, yet it is big enough to offer many different activities and a diverse culture. We are five minutes from a thriving uptown district where we like to go on weekends to local cafes, shops, art shows, music entertainment and a children’s museum. We can’t wait to take our child to the museum, get some ice cream and walk around uptown!
Trent’s employer provides a private park which includes a pool with a lazy river, putt-putt golf and offers a summer activity camp for kids. We look forward to our kids enjoying the summer activities and going to the family movie nights in the park!
We love that we are only two hours south from Chicago where we travel to often to visit Ashley’s brother and his family. We also visit the City frequently to attend baseball and hockey games, museums, concerts and the Christmas Lights at Lincoln Park Zoo.
Our families are an integral part of our lives. We are lucky to have most of our family nearby to spend time with on the weekends.
Ashley’s parents live in a small farm community about a half-hour away where Ashley and her brother and sister were raised. We spend a lot of time together at their house throughout the year swimming in their pool, playing hide-and-go seek with our three nieces, and relaxing on the front porch swing. This past summer, the entire family rented a house in Wisconsin on Lake Michigan and enjoyed outside activities, building sand castles, playing games and enjoying nature.
Trent’s parents live close by in our city, which is also where Trent and his two brothers were raised. His Mom is a retired first grade teacher who can’t wait to have a grandchild in town to take to parks and attend school activities. One of Trent’s brothers lives in Texas with our two nephews. We recently spent Christmas in Texas and enjoyed opening presents in pajamas and building Legos with our nephews.
Both sides of the family come together on Thanksgiving at our house where Trent is known for his Turkey and homemade stuffing! We love having our home filled with lots of family, fun and food!
Our families are excited and very supportive of our decision to adopt. They cannot wait to welcome a new child into the family and provide unconditional love.
