Our House and Neighborhood
Our Home

We have been in our house for a little over four years, and we really love it here. Our favorite thing about our home is how it’s always filled with light. There are lots of windows that help to make it a happy, welcoming place. We have four bedrooms, a living room, and a big play room. Our favorite room is the living room which opens into the kitchen. We love to play with the kids, read books, and listen to music together there. We have a nice fenced back yard, with a swing set and other fun outdoor toys.

We live in Washington state, in a suburb near Seattle. Our community is very diverse and family-friendly. There are several parks within minutes of our house, including many that have lakes with beaches, and splash pads for kids to run around in during the summer. One of our kids’ favorite parks has a play structure shaped like a train and a kid-friendly zip line. Our city has a fun carnival during the summer, as well as lots of Christmas lights and holiday celebrations in the winter. We love to visit the children’s museums, zoos, and aquariums nearby as well.

Megan serves as the treasurer for a local group of moms who organize play dates and events, including an Easter egg hunt and a fun Halloween party. There are also many families with young children in our church congregation who live nearby that our kids love to play with.

Our Extended Families
Megan's Family

Between Ben’s brother and Megan’s three sisters, our kids have lots of cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents to play with and learn from. We are close with our extended families and see them often.

Noah & Miles with Ben's Parents

Most Sundays Megan’s parents host dinner and we get together for great food and lots of fun with cousins. Sometimes the dinners are birthday or holiday celebrations - we love the annual Halloween party with costumes and games, and the Christmas nativity, when the kids dress up and we sing Christmas songs together. We also take trips to Lake Chelan, and everyone enjoys time at the beach and on the boat.

Ben’s parents live in Arizona and visit a few times each year. We like to visit the zoo or local beaches and playgrounds together when they’re here. Ben’s brother is in the Air Force, and he and his family live in Texas. We love to see them whenever we can - all of our kids are close in age and have a great time playing together.

Our extended families are very supportive of our plan to adopt and are so excited to welcome a new child into our lives.
