Our neighborhood is located on the water, which makes for great scenery for family strolls and exercising. Our neighborhood has only one entrance, resulting in little to no traffic and making it a safe venue for kids to play. Also, our neighborhood has lots of children of all ages! Our son often plays with the other children in a pickup game of basketball or baseball, or some pretty impressive Nerf battles across the front yards. Our son learned to ride his bicycle in the cul-de-sac next to our house and his piano teacher, which many children at our son’s school also take lessons from, lives just two doors down! In addition, our neighborhood has annual events like our Halloween block party, a family friendly get together with catered food before sun-down when the trick-or-treating begins.
When we moved into our home four years ago, we knew as soon as we walked in the door that this was the place for our family. We love our open kitchen that is perfect for family and friend get-together’s, and kids that come over love our play room which has lots of toys and electronics! We have cookouts and swim parties in our backyard, and we love taking our dog, Elvis, for walks where he can visit his dog friends on their walks.
Our house is also located within one mile of our son’s school and baseball field and is a short drive to our church.
Our family, along with our faith, are the foundations of our lives. We have been blessed with loving, supportive families, and we have used those models to shape our family. In 2006, we were blessed with the birth our son, Ethan. Having a child instantly changed our lives forever, we love every minute of it and we can’t wait to have another child!
We spend as much time together and with our extended family as possible, and there are a lot of cousins to have fun with! We do this through small, every day settings like family dinners or all attending a Little League game together. We also take yearly family trips where we have over 20 relatives together. Holidays are also a big deal in our family. Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays are all built around family. These opportunities give our son a chance to spend time with our parents (Ethan’s four grandparents) and all of his many cousins.
One of our favorite sayings is that we like to “invest in memories." We believe building memories with family and friends is what brings the most joy to our lives.
