We live in a four-bedroom home on a quiet, tree-lined street in a family-friendly neighborhood, just a short train ride from Chicago – allowing us to experience the best of both worlds.
We have a large fenced in yard out back, and from our front door, in minutes you can walk to the playground, tennis courts and Prairie Path – one of the best suburban paths in the country. There are always joggers, bikers and dog walkers like us out exploring. We can’t wait to share these outings with a little explorer of our own.
Schools in our suburb are top rated – one of the many reasons we chose to put down roots here. The high school and elementary school are just minutes away and we look forward to walking to school on the days when the weather is nice!
Ours is a tight-knit community with block parties, farmers markets, parades and more! There’s always so much going on for kids; a favorite is Community Day at the nearby park, where the local businesses bring in a petting zoo, bouncy house and pony rides. We’re also located close to our suburb’s historical museum, art museum and award-winning public library, which is known for its dynamic children's programming.
Family is extremely important to us and your child won't be short on admirers!
While most family visits revolve around fun in the city and relaxing in the burbs, a great deal of others offer a fun change of pace. Nicole’s grandparents live on a farm and visits aren’t complete without holding baby chicks and petting the sheep and llamas. Growing up, a favorite childhood memory of Nicole’s was feeding baby calves milk from oversized bottles. We can’t wait to share our love of animals (of all sizes!) with a child.
We also make it a point every year to travel as a family. Recently, Nicole’s parents took the entire family zip lining in the rain forests of Punta Cana and jet skiing in the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico off of Key West. We are looking forward to including a little one on all of these adventures.
In addition to vacationing together, we love getting outside and being active with our family – especially our five siblings and 20+ cousins! When we’re together we play flag football, volleyball and kick ball.
Everyone is so excited and supportive of our adoption plan.
