Our Extended Families
With Mila's Parents and Brother

Our families are wonderful. They were thrilled when they heard that we have decided to grow our family by adoption. They have supported us our entire lives and, most recently, through our struggles with infertility. They are so excited to welcome a new member to our extended family!

Mila's family (parents, brother, and her twin teenage nieces) lives in town. Mila talks to her mother every day and we get together every weekend for lunch, dinner, or even just a cup of tea. Kira has a very special bond with Mila's mother (and often pretends to call and talk to her on a toy cell phone).

Jared's Extended Family

Jared's family (parents, two sisters, one brother, two nieces and one nephew) doesn't live in town, but we always have a standing plan for the next visit or family vacation. We go to Jared's parents' home for Christmas every year and they do everything to make it so special and memorable (not just for the grandchildren, but also for their now-grown children)!

Our House and Neighborhood
Home Sweet Home

Our house is in a suburb, but it definitely has a more urban feel. We live within walking distance of three amazing parks -- one is a children’s playground where we take our daughter every weekend. We love to take Kira (and our dog, Otto) to the park with a ball, frisbee, or some bread to feed the ducks. One of the parks also houses the town's Zoo and in the summertime we go nearly every weekend.

Hanging Out at One of Our Favorite Parks

We can’t say enough wonderful things about our neighborhood! It is a tree-lined, historic district where people walk around just to enjoy the area. Our neighborhood is really fun and there is a true sense of community – the kind that you really don’t see anymore. For example, parents walk their kids to school in the mornings and gather for a children’s parade on Halloween before trick or treating begins. We can’t think of a better area in town to raise children!

Our house is welcoming and cozy. It has big windows so it is full of light all day, which we love. On the main floor is where we spend most of our time hanging out in the den. Upstairs, we have 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. We also have a nice fenced-in backyard/patio area where we like to play (and relax).
