We live in the Carolina's about twenty-five minutes outside of Charlotte. Our town is a great place to raise children with amazing schools, and many fun-filled family activities within the community. Our neighborhood has a community playground and club house where activities are held, and two swimming pools. We built our house at the end of a cul-de-sac, which is a central outdoor play area for the children on our street. We knew that we always wanted to have children, so we built a home with plenty of space. There is a finished basement which will be a great play area for children. At this time, we are the only couple on the street who does not have children, but there are three adoptive children on our street - and we are hoping to make it four.
Behind our house is a common area greenway, with an open area that provides yet another perfect place for a child to play. Furthermore, all of our neighbors are very caring and watch out for one another. They are always willing to help in any way possible. Whether it’s just watching your pet while you're away for the weekend or staying with you at the hospital during a family emergency. We feel very fortunate to be a part of this community and the amazing neighborhood where we live.
We have a large extended family which never lacks in fun and excitement. When we are together, you are bound to hear great stories, share plenty of laughs and have lots of new adventures. Recently Amber's sister, brother-in-law, and four children under the age of six were living with us for six months. Talk about a full house! Although things were chaotic, we wouldn’t change those months for anything. Sadly, shortly after Christmas they moved, but in those short months, we learned the true meaning of family. Since they moved out, the house has been too quiet. We miss the laughter, the messiness, and the love that we felt every day.
Steve’s family is spread throughout the country with his parents and sister both in Texas. Amber’s family is mainly in Connecticut but many others including her parents live in South Carolina. We travel often to see our family and they also make multiple trips a year to visit us. When we aren’t traveling to visit we are Skyping online. Even though we have some miles between us, we are always close and in constant communication with our family.
We both have been truly fortunate with such an amazing bunch of moms, dads, step parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. We would not trade them for the world and we can't wait to add a new blessing to share in the joys of our lives.
