Our House and Neighborhood
Home Sweet Home

Our home has a story. Jon proposed in the house on the day of closing with the moving truck in the driveway and Kim in work clothes. Since then we renovated and made changes to make it truly our home, adding a screen porch for relaxing outside and a fire pit for neighborhood marshmallow roasts.

We live in a lake community so we have lake access within walking distance and a dedicated dock to keep our boat. Our 2-story home has 4 bedrooms, an office for Kim and a playroom full of games, crafts and toys. We have a large fenced in corner lot where we host various gatherings, celebrations and cookouts.

The neighborhood itself is established with large trees, a quiet pool, private playground, numerous families with children of all ages and close to everything we need, especially an award-winning school district. Located outside a major city in North Carolina between the mountains and beaches, we are easily able to take weekend trips to either and enjoy vacationing at both.

One of our favorite things about our neighborhood are the impromptu hang outs. On any given day we can go down to the pool or docks and before we know it, we are joined by neighbors and the kids are all playing. Pizza delivery at the pool is a common summer occurrence. Holidays are great, from Halloween hayrides to Christmas day dessert parties to a driveway turned snow sledding track courtesy of all the dads.

Our Extended Families

No words can express how amazing it is to be surrounded by such an incredible group of family and friends. People who, at every step of the adoption journey have shown interest, support, joy and a willingness to go above and beyond in our path to being a family of four.

Big Muddy Challenge With Our Nieces

Jon's parents moved from Upstate New York to North Carolina earlier this year. Their move was preceeded by both of his older sisters, their spouses, children and pets a few years earlier. The result is a fun-filled myriad of holiday gatherings, cousins playing at the pool with Grandpa, Grandma's story time and siblings reminiscing about their own childhood memories.

On the other side we have an amazing woman in Kim's mother who is an incredibly giving and big-hearted person who loves taking care of Colton when he is not in school. She is thrilled and excited to have another grandchild become the center of her world. As an only child, Kim has a large network of close friends she considers family.
