We live in a three-bedroom bungalow in the West Plaza Neighborhood of Kansas City, Missouri. West Plaza is a DIVERSE, FRIENDLY URBAN COMMUNITY with many parks, restaurants, and shops in walking distance. The neighborhood is safe, stable, and very kid friendly. A wonderful park full of greenspace and playground equipment is two blocks away. A public library and hospital are also within walking distance to our home. Our two next door neighbors have young children, so we will have playmates on the block!
We purchased our home in July of 2014. Over the past three years, we have worked to make our house into a home by creating a space that is welcoming, comfortable, clean, and safe. Our favorite parts about our home are our front porch, backyard, and dining room. We love to sit on the front porch in the evenings to enjoy some fresh air and see our neighborhood. We spend a lot of time in the backyard. Whether grilling or gardening, we love to be outside. Inside our home we love our dining room. Kirby's best friend made us a dining room table. Since we love to host at our home, we often share a wonderful meal around the table with our friends and family.
Outside of our little family is a much larger family that is FULL OF LIFE, LAUGHTER, AND LOVE.
Maria has five siblings and 40 cousins, and Kirby has three siblings. Maria's family is incredibly tight-knit, and her siblings and cousins are her dearest friends. Most of her family is in St. Louis, and she visits often. Kirby's siblings live in Colorado and Arkansas.
Family traditions and quality time are very important to our families. Every holiday we see our loved ones. Our family is full of excellent cooks, and we love to prepare food together and enjoy a delicious meal. As a couple, we host two holiday meals. On Easter we prepare a brunch and Easter egg hunt. On Christmas morning we prepare a breakfast feast, and Maria has perfected her breakfast casserole recipe.
We also love to travel with our family. Last year we had the opportunity to visit Europe with Maria's parents and sisters for two weeks. We also visit Kirby's siblings in Colorado, including an annual Christmas trip.
Our parents and siblings are aware of our plans for adoption. They are excited and supportive of our adoption plan.
Growing up in large families, we appreciate the importance of a strong family bond and look forward to OUR CHILD RECEIVING THE LOVE AND SUPPORT OF THESE WONDERFUL PEOPLE.
