Dear Birth Parent(s),

Adoptive Family Debashish & Sue

Like you, we've been on a journey, a journey of the heart. Our journey together started six years ago, with marriage, a new home and for Sue, a return to school and a new career. These were all decisions we made as we planned our future together. And today, as grateful as we are for all we have accomplished, something is still missing…

We'd really like to be parents!

Debashish imagines tutoring a son or daughter in school studies, and sharing his knowledge of the computer; something kids are being exposed to earlier and earlier nowadays. He envisions sharing his favorite childhood memories and activities like playing soccer, building models, and flying kites just like the ones he made by hand when he was young. He'd pursue these activities with all the love and energy he has to give.

Sue would like to share her gifts too; and provide a nurturing home filled with laughter and love and lots of home-made cookies and Sunday morning pancakes! She imagines taking a little one on outings to the zoo and to the park, and hiking around in the "Great Outdoors" having fun just growing and learning together as a family.

We believe that Deba's more structured approach to schedules and routines and Sue's ability to creatively improvise will provide a child with just the right balance of guidance and spontaneity needed to feel safe while exploring the world all around.

Our marriage is awesome! Although we both married later in life for the first and only time, we have grown to depend upon each other in ways we never would have imagined. Together, we are good friends and great partners in life. We have dealt with challenges and succeeded in maintaining our commitment to this special son or daughter we haven't yet met. Our faith in our dreams is strong indeed!

We had a traditional Hindu wedding in India with the ceremony performed in Sanskrit, an ancient language which Sue had never heard before. Sue still chuckles when she describes to friends and family how she finally had to ask Deba at the beginning of the third day of blessings and celebrations, if we were (finally) married! When he replied "yes", she grabbed him and kissed him, much to everyone's surprise! We ended the festivities that evening with a feast provided to family and the whole village. It was truly magical!

Story-telling is part of both of our family's tradition and an important way we stay connected with one another. We'd welcome the opportunity to share some of your own stories as well because through adoption, you will always be part of our family.

All our heartfelt best to you,

Debashish & Sue
