Thank you for choosing adoption and for considering us. We admire you for your courage and selfless decision to find the most loving home that you can. We hope that you will open your heart to us and our story.
Our names are Alan and Amy. We're young, fun, energetic and down to earth! We met each other at the hospital where Amy was one of the nurses taking care of Alan's father for several weeks until sadly, he passed away. During that difficult time, we remember a special connection. It was not long before we both knew we were meant to be together FOREVER. We've been happily married for eight years and are best friends and soul mates. Being of Christian faith is important to us and we feel blessed to have each other! Our home is very welcoming and is full of love, warmth, and security.
Humor is a large part of who we are and what attracted us to one another. Knowing how to laugh at life and ourselves is part of the day to day around our house. We've learned that life is a mirror; if you smile at it, it will smile back and if you frown at it, it will frown back. We like to smile in our family!
After several years of trying to start a family, we learned that we are unable to have children on our own. Before getting married, we discussed adoption as a wonderful choice. We believe that God sets some couples aside to adopt children. This became an exciting reality when we adopted our son, Nathan, in March of 2006 through American Adoptions. What a blessing he is! We love him more than words can express and can't wait to share the same love and excitement with your child. We want very much to be parents all over again. Without birth parent(s) like you, fulfilling our dream of having two children would not be possible.
The daily routine around our house is all about meeting the needs of our child. We like to get out of bed and spread toys all over the den floor. We eat breakfast as a family before Alan goes to work. Amy and Nathan enjoy the fun activities of a playgroup a few times each week. Stay-at-Home Moms and their children learn from each other and get to be silly together. One of our favorite activities with the group is a library program where we sing and dance to nursery rhymes. Alan comes home from work and scoops Nathan up right away. We eat a home cooked dinner together and share a few laughs. Alan gets special one on one time every night by giving Nathan a bath and reading him bedtime stories. On the weekends, we plan fun family events such a trip to the children's play museum or different parks. Our lives would be incomplete without sharing this genuine love with another child and we would be honored if you decide to choose us.
As parents, we feel our greatest strengths are the unconditional love and time we have to give your child. Amy will continue to be a Stay-at-Home Mom. This is very important to us. Amy loves this role! Alan's job is flexible and allows him to work from home a few times each week. We look forward to sharing in all the milestones! We will teach them right from wrong, how to read, ride a bike, swim, play games, plant flowers, build sandcastles and snowmen, and much more. We want to spend time outdoors, take them to church, visit family and friends, go on lots of fun vacations, attend ball games and events like the circus, or just go to McDonald's together for an occasional Happy Meal. We treasure the little things!
Children are our passion. We thrive on experiencing the wonder of life with them. Nothing makes us happier than spending time together as a family. We will make sure that your child has access to great opportunities including the best education. We promise to set a good example. We will always be supportive. From consoling them after a boo-boo to celebrating their proudest moments and everything in between, we'll be there for them. We will listen and see to it that they enjoy each and every day. Lots of hugs and kisses will be passed out! Doing things that interest your child will be exciting. What will they be interested in? It will be for your child to decide and we will encourage them to follow their dreams.
We embrace this process with open arms and a bit of anxiousness, not knowing exactly what the future holds, but knowing that some day we'll learn of the plan that's meant to be. Thank you for getting to know us. We want you to be at peace with us. If you wish, it would be our pleasure to update you with pictures and letters of your child in the future. We see the importance that your story and ours become one. A story that will not fill your child with questions or sadness but one of completeness and a clear understanding of the tremendous love and gift that you've given.
