Our names are Tom and Lisa and we would like to thank you for taking the time to read our letter. If you are in fact reading this letter, you must be considering adoption. We know how difficult this time must be for you and we can only imagine what you must be going through. Hopefully, reading our letter and profile will help to ease your mind a bit.
We would like to tell you a little bit about ourselves. We have known each other since high school, dated for 6 years, and have been happily married for 18 years. We truly are best friends and have a very loving, caring, and stable relationship. We have a lot of fun together and we love to laugh. It has always been our dream to have a family and we have tried desperately for many years to make that happen. We now realize that there is another path for us - adoption - to make those dreams come true. What really means the most to us is sharing our lives with a child - not whether or not the child has our eyes or our smile.
We are so looking forward to coloring Easter eggs and egg hunts, 4th of July cook outs, painting pumpkins and trick-or-treating, leaving cookies out for Santa on Christmas Eve, and all of the joys of Christmas morning. We can't wait to experience school plays and concerts, little league, girl scouts or boy scouts, birthday parties, camping, going to the fair and watching fireworks on the 4th of July, our annual 4th of July cookout, going to the boardwalk and riding the kiddy rides, and going to Yankee games. We look forward to nurturing a child and helping them grow and to enjoy life and live it to the fullest. We look forward to teaching him or her to play sports and maybe even get the chance to coach their team. We look forward to being the Class Mom or Class Dad and going on school trips. We also can't wait to bring him or her to our favorite vacation spot, the most magical place, Disney World for our yearly trips. There is nothing like experiencing Disney World with a child. The two of us have so much fun together, but we know sharing it with a child of our own would mean so much more. It truly will be magical. Of course, there will be plenty of other family vacations to many different places.
We both have had wonderful role models with our parents and feel they have given us all of the values and skills that we will need to become wonderful parents ourselves. We believe that education is so very important and we will encourage the child to always do their very best. Whatever their strengths, dreams, and passions are in life, we will encourage and support them.
We plan on sharing the adoption story very early on with the child. We will be open and honest and answer whatever questions he or she may have. We will honor you, and you will always hold a special place in our hearts. We also promise to send pictures and letters through the agency so you can have peace of mind knowing that you made the right decision.
We know you are probably feeling as overwhelmed in reading through these letters as we were in writing ours. We hope we have given you enough of a look at us and our lives in order to make your decision a little easier.
