Dear Birth Parent(s),

We want to thank you for taking the time to read our letter and considering adoption for your child. Our names are Alan and Colleen and we are very excited about adopting another child. We have been in love with each other for over thirteen years. We have been married for ten years and are truly best friends. We have been blessed through adoption with our daughter Megan. We have always looked forward to having a family. Our lives would not be complete without the opportunity to share our experiences, love and knowledge of life with children.

We welcome with open arms the opportunity to parent another child through the blessing of adoption. We appreciate how difficult, brave and unselfish your decision is. We have turned to adoption to make our family dream come true.

Colleen enjoys being home with Megan. She also helps out in her father's business part time. She benefits by having a flexible work schedule and is able to work at home also. Alan loves to spend time doing family activities like swimming, going on bicycle and wagon rides, going to the park, etc. We enjoy taking family trips to the beach, to the lake, out to see Alan's family farm, and to amusement parks to name a few.

Both of our parents have been married for many years and live in the same neighborhood about a block apart. Even though our parents live so close to each other it was a blind date that was the beginning to our romance. We currently live in the same city as our parents, just minutes away. Our parents are very excited and can't wait to welcome a new family addition. We have received lots of support from our friends and family.

Some of our favorite family memories occur during the holidays when we all get together. Every year our families celebrate Thanksgiving at our home. We eat a huge dinner with all the trimmings, play games and talk the night away. We also really enjoy Christmas time. We join together to do lots of holiday baking and all have fun decorating the Christmas cookies. We spend time opening presents, going to church, singing carols around the piano and enjoying wonderful Christmas meals.

We plan to surround your child with a caring and loving Christian environment and will encourage them and their individual talents and successes. Our families stressed the importance of education to each of us as we grew up. We look forward to reading books together and helping them with their homework. Our goal is to make education fun like both of our mothers, who were teachers, did for us. They also encouraged us in after school activities. When Alan was younger he participated in different sport leagues from football to golf, Cub Scouts, church groups, and piano lessons. Colleen spent many years in dance, swimming and Girl Scouts. We both grew up in stable and loving Christian homes. We plan to provide the same unconditional love and support we received while growing up to our children.
