Thank you for allowing us this opportunity to share a glimpse of our lives with you. Choosing to make an adoption plan for your child takes great courage and love, and we wish you strength during this time. We respect you more than we can ever say for considering adoption for your baby.
Let us begin by telling you a little bit about ourselves. Our names are Steve and Andrea, and we have been married for seven years. We met when we were in college and were friends from the start. Two years after meeting, we began dating and we have been together ever since. We can both honestly say that we married our best friend!
We have always known that we wanted to have a family. When we learned that we would not be able to conceive a child, we decided to build our family through adoption. In 2005 we were blessed when we adopted our daughter Caroline. Caroline turned two in March, and she can't wait to be a big sister. She practices being "Mommy" on her baby dolls, and we know that she will be a very loving, affectionate, and attentive big sister.
One tradition that we have started as a family is definitely a reflection of how we were raised by our own parents. Our parents both believed in the importance of sitting down to dinner as a family every night. This was a priority in their lives, and it is now a priority in our life. We are fortunate that Steve is home by 5:30 every night so that we can all eat dinner together. We believe that dinnertime is a time to connect and share stories about everyone's day. It is a time to laugh, relax, and enjoy each other's company, while eating a good home cooked meal!
We are good people with strong values and morals. We believe in teaching children right from wrong through our own example and through positive reinforcement. We will bring up your child to be a kind, respectful, and honest person. Your child will grow up saying, "Please" and "Thank you" and "Bless you" when someone sneezes! Your child will grow up in a home where respect, trust, laughter, and love rule!
We promise to do everything possible to make sure that your child has a rich life with countless opportunities for education, sports, family and friends. He/She will receive an excellent education. We have set up a college savings plan for Caroline, and would do the same for your child. Your child will be given the opportunity to take part in sports, clubs, or other recreational activities that he/she has interests in. We look forward to cheering from the sidelines as we watch him/her reach for the stars!
We have so many dreams and plans for our family's future. We are so excited by the thought of taking family vacations to Disney World and Sea World and taking trips skiing or camping. We envision lazy days playing in the pool, or starry nights roasting marshmallows by a campfire. We look forward to baking cookies for Santa, searching for eggs that the Easter Bunny left behind, and for birthday celebrations with all of our family and friends.
We want you to know that if you choose us to adopt your baby, your child will grow up knowing that you were incredibly brave and unselfish and that your decision was an act of unbelievable love. You will be in our hearts and prayers forever. We would like to keep you updated with pictures and letters as your child develops. This has been something that Caroline's birthparents have cherished. We would hope to keep up this tradition with you as well, if that is something you would like.
We are very excited about making our family bigger through adoption. We hope that our words and photos have shown you that we will provide a warm, loving home for your baby. Whatever you decide, please know that choosing life for your child is an admirable and respectable decision. We wish you all the best as you review all of your options. Thank you again for considering us as possible parents for your child.
