Thank you for reading our letter! We're Michael and Kristin and we are very excited about growing our family again through adoption. There are so many things we'd love to tell you about us, so we made a list of the most important things we want you to know.
1. Our respect for you is sincere. We admire the courage it took to give your child the gift of life and your selflessness in considering an adoption plan. Your baby is so blessed to have a mother who loves him/her so much.
2. We have a solid relationship built on trust, commitment and love. We met thirteen years ago during our first week in college. Feeling a bit brazen with her new found college freedom; Kristin asked Michael if he'd like to go to the movies with her. We went to the movies that night and have been together ever since. We married four years later in an elegant ceremony and celebrated through the wee hours of the night with family and friends. What makes us unique is that we have been together since our first days in college and have, in a sense, grown up together. We have experienced most of life's important moments together.
3. Your child would be welcomed into a home where adoption has been the best way to create a family. After unsuccessful infertility treatments, we adopted our son Jackson from Russia in 2004. To this point, he is the single greatest blessing in our lives. We are eagerly anticipating the day when Jackson will become a big brother and our greatest blessing will be two wonderful children.
Your child would have a sibling who would understand the experience of adoption firsthand. Jackson can't wait to be a big brother! We've started talking about what being a big brother means and he is very interested in babies. Any time he sees a baby he says hello and is always so sweet and gentle. We know he is ready for a new playmate!
4. We're a good family who has a lot of fun. If you choose us as the parents for your baby, we will accept that responsibility with absolute delight. Your child will be loved without condition. He/She will be raised in a home with responsible limits, but limitless fun. Their individuality will be valued and they will be supported in whatever activities interest them. We believe children should be raised with love and acceptance, guidance and teaching, abundant affection, endless support and a healthy dose of fun and laughter.
5. We provide a secure life for our family and set a good example while doing so. While parenting is our top priority, like most families today, we both work. It allows us to live a comfortable lifestyle and to provide for the future of our family. We both have flexible schedules, allowing us to find the perfect balance between work and parenting. Michael has a job doing what he loves, showing the importance of following one's dreams. Kristin's job is professionally rewarding and also sets a great example by showing she can be both a great mom and have a successful career.
6. Education is paramount in our home. We will provide the very best education for your child and the education they get at home will be equally vital. We believe in teaching children the magic of learning, the value of family, and the importance of compassion and respect. We'll teach them important life lessons like even when things don't go as planned, the result is just as good and usually better.
7. We believe that families created by adoption are special and should be honored. We will always share their adoption stories and the wonderful way we became a family. We will always present you in a loving and caring way. We would be honored to send you letters and share pictures with you as your child grows and flourishes. We are also open to discussing ways we can have a more open adoption arrangement, if you are interested. Even if you are unsure about having a relationship now, you may in the future, and that door will always be open.
We know you want your child to grow up in a loving family where he/she will be treasured, given every chance to succeed and loved beyond limits.
