Hello and thank you for looking at our profile! We understand that if you choose adoption, you want your baby
to have loving parents and a wonderful home. If you wish for us to parent your child, we would be thrilled to
welcome your baby into our family. Your child will fit right in with an older brother adopted from Guatemala and close family members adopted from Korea, Colombia and the United States.
We're Julie and Dave and we married 4 years ago in a casual beach wedding. We think we're a great team: we both value knowledge and education, but we're also relaxed and down-to-earth. We talk about world events and we also discuss the contestants on Big Brother! We really enjoy traveling and being active: we've hiked over hot coals near a Hawaiian volcano, walked through the old cemeteries of New Orleans and toured the museums of Chicago. We've got lots of kid-friendly trips planned for the future: dolphin-watching boat trips, riding a train to the top of Colorado's Pike's Peak and collecting shells at the beach.
After we married, we were looking forward to sharing our lives with children and were disappointed when we couldn't get pregnant. But we thought adoption was a great way to build a family and we felt like the luckiest
parents in the world when we brought our son Graham home. He's now a cheerful and energetic little boy who we love to pieces. We can't wait to adopt again and we would be overjoyed to have a new little person to adore. We think it'd be great for our kids to share the bond of adoption and create happy sibling memories together.
About us: Dave is an MIT alum and a successful software engineer. Every week he meets friends to rock climb at an indoor gym and many weekends he swims with Graham at the YMCA pool. He's home from work in time to build impressive block towers or play hockey in the driveway with Graham. Julie is a stay-at-home parent and plans fun activities every day: feeding fish at the botanical garden, toddler playtime at the gym and trips to the car wash (Graham's favorite!). Julie loves animals and nature, and after college she volunteered at a chimpanzee
sanctuary in Africa. She then was a zookeeper for a few years, caring for big cats and bears. Now she enjoys
creating a new nature-lover in Graham - he can already identify several kinds of birds!
Adoption made us a diverse family: Dave's cousin Lia was adopted from Korea, his cousin Jim was adopted from Colombia and his cousin Dan is of Filipino heritage and was adopted here in the United States. Lia is so excited about our hopeful new addition that she plans to visit from Boston when the new little one arrives! We're very close to Lia and her family and we've talked a lot about how we can best support our children in our multiracial family.
You can be assured that we will tell your child about the difficult and loving choice that you made. Though we are unable to have contact with Graham's birth family, we regularly exchange letters and photos with the wonderful Guatemalan foster family who cared for him during his first months of life. We are committed to sending you
regular photos and letters as well, so that you can know that your child is doing well. We want our children to know the respect we have for their birth families and culture and we will discuss our children's origins with sensitivity.
We'll make sure your child attends excellent schools and also gets to see the world outside of our own neighborhood. We will teach our children our values: respect for people of all backgrounds, appreciation for nature and our desire to help those in need. We'll show it by our actions - we've volunteered frequently in the past and we're excited to involve the whole family in community volunteer work.
Thank you for considering us as adoptive parents for your child! We hope you will have the support you need during this difficult time. Please accept our best wishes as you make this important decision.
