Dear Birth Parent(s),

Adoptive Family Adam & Elizabeth

"Knock, knock." "Who's there?" "Olive" "Olive who?" "Olive you! (I love you!)" Rarely does a day go by that we don't tell this joke to each other and we can't wait to teach this very same joke to your child. Thank you for taking the time to consider us as adoptive parents to your child. We cannot truly understand the difficult decisions you are facing right now, but we do know that you are incredibly courageous and selfless for considering adoption. Let us assure you that if given the opportunity to raise your child he/she will know all about how wonderful you are for making this loving decision with his/her best interests at heart.

Let us tell you a little bit more about ourselves. We met while teaching together at a small, Catholic school. Adam was teaching third grade when Elizabeth started teaching middle school math. He noticed her sweet yet confident attitude right away. After working together for a year Adam finally made his move. Our first date, the day after Thanksgiving, started at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, continued as we walked through Central Park and enjoyed hot chocolate by the Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Center and ended several hours later at a college basketball game where his brother was coaching and his family was watching. We spent over twelve hours together and Elizabeth met Adam's parents, two uncles, brother and sister-in-law. Adam also met Elizabeth's parents and her brother that night. The date was the start to an exciting and fun relationship filled with family celebrations, traditions and different activities.

We were both raised in close-knit families that supported any of the activities we decided to pursue. Your child will know this same support whether he/she decides to pursue music lessons like Elizabeth did, athletic competitions like Adam did or any other type of activity. Together we now enjoy rock climbing and hiking on the Appalachian Trail, reading, and playing board games. We also maintain our own interests. Elizabeth still gives saxophone and clarinet lessons and is an avid knitter. She has knit all sorts of baby clothes and hats for newborns. Adam coaches basketball, plays chess and enjoys cooking and baking. We plan to share these interests with your child and also encourage him/her to try new things. We look forward to watching school concerts and games and posting his/her art and other work on our refrigerator. We will spend quality time together eating dinner, reading books, playing games and doing different activities on the weekend as a family. We can't wait to go pick apples, pumpkins, and blueberries and chop down the Christmas tree in the fall and winter. Swimming lessons, ice cream cones and amusement parks await your child in the spring and summer.

Your child will have the unique yet wonderful experience of growing up on a school campus. There are so many benefits to living at a boarding school and although this may seem different to you, we love it. Elizabeth works one floor above our home and will be able to see your child throughout the day. The boarding school schedule is unique because she gets 22 weeks of vacation a year including the entire summer. Adam's school schedule is similar so we look forward to a lot of fun-filled time around holidays and during the summer.

We want you to know that we will be very open and honest with your child about his/her adoption and will portray you in the best light. We will raise your child with all of our love and passion because not only will we be so blessed with this gift but will also feel a tremendous responsibility to you. You would be entrusting us with your precious child and the best way to honor your decision is for us to make sure your child has the best life that we can provide. We will send you pictures and letters, if you desire, so you can constantly be reassured of your decision. Thank you for taking the time to read about us. Our hearts go out to you as you make this tough decision and if entrusted with your child we will do everything we can to honor you by being the best parents we can be. Our hearts are bursting with love and we excitedly await the day we can share it with a child.

Sincerely,

Adam & Elizabeth
