We would like to begin by saying how truly humbled we are that you have chosen to learn more about our family. There is no way that we could possibly understand the emotional decision that you are being confronted with. Please know, however, that we do realize how important this decision is for you and your baby and we respect whatever path you choose to follow. We especially admire your courage, selflessness, and strength as you consider an adoption plan for your baby.
Ever since we can remember, becoming parents is something that we have always envisioned in our future. Although our road to become parents has had some twists and turns, we truly believe that adoption is the path we were meant to follow and are 100% committed and excited about our adoption plan. We also believe that there is always good that comes out of every life struggle and ours was the reaffirmation of the strength and love in our marriage while being faced with our infertility.
One of the greatest qualities of our marriage is the open-communication that we have with each other. We speak our feelings to each other very genuinely and freely which has given us a sense of trust and peace in our relationship. As a couple, we find it very important to celebrate each day and to laugh as much as humanly possible. Half of the time we are laughing at ourselves and frankly, we are okay with that. Whether it is Mike letting his nephews chase him around the yard with water balloons or Kim dressed up as a witch on Halloween performing spooky chemistry demonstrations for her classes, we both enjoy making people smile.
We realize that becoming parents will be one of the greatest responsibilities that one can take on in their lifetime. As potential parents we expect that parenting will be full of hard work, responsibility, patience, adjustment, and flexibility. At the same time, we wait with hopeful anticipation for all of the joy, love, and laughter a child will bring to our lives. We want to expose this child to all that life has to offer and help to foster their unique talents. We promise to support and encourage your child to follow whatever dreams and passions they may have and to give them our unconditional love no matter what.
As educators, we hope to teach this child as they explore their world, but even more so, we look forward to everything that this child will teach us about how to be better parents and better people. After caring very deeply for the many students that have passed through our classrooms over the years, we can only imagine how incredibly rewarding raising a child in our home will be.
We have so much love to give and honestly can't wait to be given the opportunity to pass it along to a child. We are so excited to someday be able to go for family bike rides in the park, go camping in the mountains, and build sand castles at the beach. We would emphasize the importance of being together as a family, such as with family meals, outings and time spent together during our summers off. We especially can't wait for family road trips near and far and future excursions to some of our favorite places in Europe and wherever else a plane ticket may take us!
Our almost four years of marriage have been built on honesty and openness, and we will carry that through when speaking with your child about his/her adoption. We will honor you always when speaking of the adoption. We are genuine in our promise to send pictures and letters and look forward to sharing this child's life with you as they grow. We believe that adoption is something to honor and nothing to be ashamed of. We plan to tell them their adoption story very early on so that they know who you are and how important all of our roles are in shaping their lives. In fact, we have found several baby books that speak of adoption and plan to read the child stories about adoption and share with them the tremendous love and compassion that you have for them shown by the heartfelt decision that you have made with his/her best interests in mind. As you make this very important next step in your life, we wish you comfort and peace with wherever your road may lead.
