Thank you so much for choosing to read our letter. We are sure this is a very difficult decision for you to make and are so happy that you would take the time to consider us as the adoptive parents of your child. We can only imagine what you are feeling during this time and have the utmost respect for your selflessness and courage.
Our names are Randy and Sue. Believe it or not, we met each other on the Internet. This might not sound like such a big deal nowadays, but when we met 12 years ago it was "huge" because there was no My Space or match.com. Randy describes it as winning the lottery because it was the first time he had ever signed on to AOL. We like to think that it was fate that brought us together. We chatted online for several months and then spoke on the phone for several more before we actually met in person. During this time we got to know just about everything about each other, so when we finally did meet face to face it felt like we were old friends.
We dated for seven years before we got married. Soon after, we decided it was time to start trying for the child we had always talked about having. Over the next three years we tried unsuccessfully to conceive on our own. During this time, we began to think about adoption as a means of fulfilling our dreams of becoming parents. It was not something that was entirely new to us. Randy was adopted, as well as several other family members and friends. We knew this was the right decision for us.
Our family and friends are very excited about our decision to adopt, and think that we will make great parents. Randy's parents are excited about welcoming their first grandchild into the family and Sue's parents look forward to grandchild number four. As we have heard them say many times, "There is no shortage of love around here for more grandchildren." Our friends that have adopted children are also happy that we will get to experience the same joy they have been fortunate to have.
We consider raising a child to be the most important thing we will ever do. We will teach your child good manners. We will give him/her the tools to make good choices and to have respect for others. Our love for him or her will be unconditional and you can be reassured that they will be brought up in a home that is full of love and support.
We are excited about becoming parents and can't wait until we can pass on some of our traditions, and start some new ones. We look forward to decorating the Christmas tree, making Christmas cookies for Santa, and the excitement that comes with Christmas morning. We will travel, visit family and friends and take family vacations to the beach and Disney World. We will make sure that your child has every opportunity afforded to them that we had growing
up and will support his or her hobbies and interests.
We were both lucky enough to have parents that encouraged us academically and let us pursue the level of education we desired. We know the value of a good education and live in an area that has excellent schools. We will give your child a great education, both in and out of school. Further, we will help your child to learn the value of a good education and support the dreams that he or she wants to pursue.
Please be assured that we will share pictures and letters with you as your child grows up and they will know what a courageous and wonderful person you are. We will be very open and honest with your child about his or her
adoption. We look forward to telling him or her how our family was brought together. Your child will know that it was your love for him or her that made it possible for us to become a family.
If you choose us to be the parents of your child you will have the peace of mind in knowing that your child will be raised in a home full of love, joy and happiness. You will have given us the greatest gift anyone could possibly give and we would be forever grateful. You will always have a special place in our hearts.
