Hi, we are Sebastian and Kimberly. Walk into our home at any given time and you will find love, laughs and lots of energy. You will see anything from games being played to dancing and clapping while watching American Idol to gentle hugs while reading books cuddled up together. You will also hear an occasional bark or meow from one of our furry family members.
Through all this joyful activity, we are sitting here thinking it's impossible to sum up on one page everything we want to share with you. We want you to know how adoption made us a family, our dream of loving a second child and how being parents is our top priority. We also want to express our sincere concern for you during this difficult time...we can't begin to imagine what you are going through. All we can do is write to you from our hearts and hope that by reading our letter and profile, you will get a good sense of who we are and consider us as a potential family for your precious child.
From the moment we met, there was a strong chemistry between us. Sebastian had completed his MBA and was beginning his future with the airlines. Kimberly was working in legal management. Both of us were focused on our careers and not expecting to fall in love; however, within a few weeks of dating, we knew we had met our soul mates and were married nine months later - that was almost eight years ago. We knew from the beginning that we would not be able to have biological children and were excited that our family would be formed through adoption. We also knew we wanted to embrace children whose heritage may be different from ours and are thrilled to have been given the blessing of a beautiful son from China.
(By Kimberly): Sebastian has the most beautiful heart of anyone I know. He is the kind of person that all animals and children are naturally drawn to because they sense his kindness and wonderful spirit. He is always the one willing to offer a hand to help others, and he gives of himself unselfishly, asking nothing in return. He is a loving and devoted husband and father. I can honestly say there is nobody in the world I respect more than my husband. As I tell everyone, I truly feel like I won the "Husband Jackpot!"
(By Sebastian): The first thing I noticed about my wife was how beautiful she was. The next thing I discovered was just how much energy she has! Although she had a successful career, she didn't think twice about giving it up to stay at home with our son. I always smile when I overhear her telling someone that she finally has her "dream job" of being a stay-at-home-mom and she hopes that her children will give her a very positive "performance review." She keeps an active schedule but has the unique talent of winding down for the day and providing a calm environment before we all retire for the evening. I couldn't ask for a better friend, wife or mother for my children. I love her with all my heart.
Our son, who was entrusted to us through adoption, is the light of our lives. He is excited to be a big brother and proudly wears his "World's Best Big Brother" t-shirt to let everyone know, even though the title is a little premature.
Please know that we will always be there for your child providing unconditional love. We will give encouragement to follow their dreams and think for themselves. We promise to raise them in a Christian home with strong values, teach them right from wrong, offer them the best education possible, travel and show them the world as well as embracing them for the unique person that they are.
Your child will always know how they became part of our family. We will always present you in a very positive and loving way. They will know that it was through your selfless gift that we became a family and that you love them very much. We promise to provide you with pictures and letters so you know how happy and loved they are. You are such an important part of your child's life and we will never forget that.
We sincerely thank you for taking the time to read our letter. The unselfish decision you are making for your child is probably the most difficult decision of your life and our hearts go out to you during this time.
