Hello! Our names are Nathan and Lauren and we want to thank you so much for reviewing our Family Profile to get to know us better. We do not know your situation, but we are positive that it is out of love for your child that you are looking to do what you feel is best for them. We greatly admire the strength and courage you possess in considering this decision for your child’s future.
We met in College through a mutual friend; we began dating and married in 2005. Since the beginning of our marriage, we knew we wanted a family. When we learned this wasn’t possible naturally, we discussed adoption. We agreed that being a family was about selflessly giving our love, support and time to those important to us. We have a very strong foundation and believe in the importance of communicating honestly and openly about everything.
Being adopted herself, Lauren has first-hand experience with understanding that she did not have to be born from her adoptive parents to be loved and cared for by them. We strongly believe that everyone deserves a loving family and we know that we will be able to provide for and love your child as our own. We also agreed that it is important for your child to know their adoption story and we will share that story with them early and often. Using Lauren’s experience as an adopted child, we will also ensure that your child knows of your love for them and understands how brave you were to consider adoption. We want them to understand that you chose us to love and care for them in order to give them their best chance in life so they can have the future they deserve.
We have a strong marriage built on love and communication and we believe we’re ready for a child in our lives. Our goals for the child are multi-faceted. We will ensure they receive a great education; for both of us, our mothers were the first in their families to graduate from college. We take great pride in the fact that our mothers worked hard to achieve their dreams and we will work just as hard to instill that same drive into the child.
We believe in exposure to new locations, cultures and foods. We often travel to the Caribbean where Lauren has many family members. We remember as children the wonder of seeing new places and experiencing new tastes and sounds; this too is something we want to expose the child to and see that wonder in their eyes. He or she will be immediately embraced by our large family and exposed to multiple cultural traditions and languages. We also value giving the child a forum through which they can express their interests. We feel that exposure to all these things will prepare this child for stepping out into the world.
We are fortunate that we work jobs that will allow us the flexibility to be involved in the child’s life as they grow. From going on field trips to being a part of their sports or club activities. We enjoy being together with each other; that could be relaxing at home, playing outside with the dog or discovering new dishes to make or new places to eat. We are both pretty easy going and take life in stride. Our family is a big part of our lives and we are often at one another’s homes cooking out, playing games and enjoying time together.
We admire your strength in this process and we are excited at the prospect of having you consider us to make your child a part of our family. We will love your child unconditionally and will do whatever necessary to make sure they come first. We will be happy to send you updates and pictures of their progress.
It’s important to us that you’re aware of the everyday moments, traditional activities and special times with them so that you can see how well your child is doing in our family.
Thank you again for allowing us to share a bit of who we are with you.
Nathan and Lauren
