Adoptive Family Matt and Nicole
The road to this point for us has not been easy, but we know it doesn’t compare to the road to this point for you and we understand that you may have some difficult choices ahead of you. We hope our video, profile and this letter will help to answer any questions you may have about us.

Should your heart lead you our way, please take comfort in knowing we will wholeheartedly love, protect and support your baby with everything we have. We can also promise you that he or she won’t remember the first time they learned they were adopted, but will grow up knowing of their adoption before they ever understand what it means. He or she will have a certainty that they were loved from the earliest moments of their life. They’ll also have family who can relate to their unique questions at a deeper level. In addition to Nicole’s three cousins who were adopted, Matt’s grandpa is especially excited to have an adopted baby in the family. He was adopted 75 years ago!

We can’t wait to live out the words from a favorite poster that used to hang in Nicole’s childhood home, “What Every Child Needs.”

Fun: Take time to laugh and play and share the wonders of life with me.

Affection: Warm hugs will nurture me and make this world a much friendlier place.

Acceptance: Appreciate me for the individual I am, with all my unique gifts and special talents.

Respect: Treat me like an important and valuable person and I’ll learn to respect and honor myself and others.

Praise: Tell me all the things you appreciate about me so I’ll know how wonderful I really am.

Security: Give me boundaries that will allow me to grow safely, feel secure, and overcome my fears.

Honesty: Share your real feelings and admit your mistakes to me, so I’ll learn what it means to be a whole person.

Patience: Be understanding when I make mistakes; and remember - even when it doesn’t seem like it, I’m trying my best.

Forgiveness: Remind me that nobody’s perfect and that it feels much better to forgive than to hold a grudge.

Encouragement: Support me and be positive as I try new things, and I’ll have the courage to keep exploring.

Openness: Listen to me, and be open to what you may be able to learn from me.

Love: If you care for me in all these ways, you will be giving me the best life has to offer.

We believe there cannot be too much love for a child and as the years pass, we are excited and open to sharing photos and updates via email (with American Adoptions or you directly).

We are so grateful that you have taken the time to learn more about us, and we can't wait to hopefully learn more about you.

Matt and Nicole
