Our Leisure Time
A Day at the Beach

Jen: I enjoy reading well-written books, especially historical fiction. I have a lot of story ideas and am writing a novel that I hope to get published. I like visiting places that I’ve never been to before. Since getting married, Gary and I have gone to Atlanta, Savannah, and numerous parks and nature centers. Through the classes I took at college and through a job at a nature center, I learned a lot about the local environment. Because of this, I like to take nature walks and identify the different plants and animals along the trails. During my free time, I also like to play songs on the keyboard and sing. I sew gift bags during the Christmas season, and I’m making a quilt. Some other activities I enjoy are baking, planning meals, and decorating our house.

Gary: I really enjoy spending time with Jen. It doesn’t really matter what we do as long as we’re together. I like going to garage sales, the beach, and scenic places. I also like going to historic sites. One activity I would like to do again is stand-up paddle boarding because we were able to see manatees and dolphins up close. Sometimes I enjoy going to the archery range, and I also like playing the guitar.

    Our Life Priorities

Having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ is by far the highest of all priorities. We worship him through going to church, reading the Bible, and praying. We attend church regularly and participate in church activities. We pray about big decisions, and praying about adoption is what eventually led us to decide that we were going to try to adopt a baby.

Another priority for us is having great relationships with family and friends. It’s also important to us to work hard, to be ambitious, and to enjoy our careers. It would be our joy to lead and teach a child in all of these things and to see that child grow up to become a strong, confident person who has good self-esteem and a humble attitude, and who’s willing to serve others and to help people in need.
