Our home is filled with Laughter and Joy - Hugs and Helping - Dancing and Creating - Learning and Growing. Becoming parents has been the greatest joy of our lives. Our family is full of love and we are excited to share that love with your precious child. We hope you can envision the fun-loving, nurturing, and supportive home we would provide for your baby. We are grateful to you for taking the time to learn who we are.
Having been adopted myself as an infant, I grew up always knowing I was adopted. My adoptive parents shared the story of my adoption with me from the time I was an infant. Through this repetition, the story became a part of me. As I grew and had questions, my adoptive parents were always very honest, open and happy to talk with me about my adoption and share what they knew about my birth parents and my story. Having this open and honest communication provided me with a sense of security and enabled me to explore and share my feelings. From my own experience of being adopted, I understand the significance of creating a positive image of adoption. Brad and I plan to be open and honest with our children, so that your baby will understand their journey into our family and where their story began. We want your child to know about their birth parents and have a connection to their own special history. We understand that each adoption is unique, just as every individual is unique, and that adoption is a complex process with few common denominators. Every adopted child experiences adoption differently. I hope that my personal history will provide us with valuable tools to support and guide your child as they grow and deal with the array of emotions that may arise. We are looking forward to the opportunity to have an open adoption to ensure your child can have an intimate connection with you as well as access to and knowledge of their personal background.
We are a very active family with a passion for nature and the outdoors. We enjoy living in an area where we can appreciate the changing of the seasons and participate in a wide variety of seasonal activities. In the winter we enjoy snowshoeing, sledding, building snow forts and snowmen, and then warming up with a cup of hot cocoa. In the spring we savor jumping in puddles, playing in the mud, and family explorations searching for the first signs of spring flowers blooming and the sound of spring peepers. In summer we relish long days swimming at the lake, canoeing, grilling out, picnics in the park, or just playing in our yard and neighborhood for hours on end. In the fall we revel in the cool, brisk days, spending time playing in the leaves, taking long nature hikes, or visiting the apple orchard, pumpkin patch and Christmas tree farm.
We value connecting as a family and we love spending time together, whether it is trying new things, discovering new places, or enjoying simple activities at home. We have dedicated ourselves to building a family filled with laughter, love and happiness. Brad’s job provides a great deal of flexibility. He is able to work from home, allowing him to end his workday at 3:30 p.m. This early schedule and no commute free up extra hours that he is able to spend with the family. Being a stay-at-home mom allows Eileen to dedicate a great deal of time to our daughter every day. We feel very fortunate to be able to devote so much time to our family and will appreciate having that time even more as our family grows.
Family. Family is where you learn how to laugh and love, how to share, and how to treat other people. Family is where you learn to appreciate and honor differences. It is a safe place to make mistakes, thereby developing the skills of understanding, empathy, and forgiveness. Family is where you learn how to love unconditionally. We are very child-focused in how we decide to spend our time and energy. We love encouraging our daughter’s current interests. A family hike means walking at our daughter's pace, taking in all the surroundings, exploring nature by pursuing her interests, whether that be a stick she has found or inspecting tracks in the mud to see if we can find the animal that made them. As parents, we feel it is important to join a child in exploring the world, running through the fields, climbing trees, collecting rocks, jumping in puddles, and playing in the mud. Our family is centered on enjoying every moment we have together, whether it’s a game of tag, jumping in a pile of leaves, riding our bikes, having a picnic, or cooking together. We believe that through sharing in these simple joys, we have built a unique and irreplaceable connection with our daughter. It is through these strong connections that we are building a lifetime of happy memories.
