Thank you for taking the time to check out our profile! We are beyond excited that you're considering us to parent your child. We have so much love to give and we know we'll adore any child we are placed with beyond measure. It's impossible to put into words just how much being parents means to us. We have looked forward to this our entire lives, and we can't wait to start the journey!
We both feel that adoption is something that was placed in our hearts long ago. Adam has twin cousins who were adopted at the age of two from Vietnam. Because they are a year older than him, he doesn't ever remember a time when they weren't family. He grew up loving them and has many memories with them from his childhood.
Megan doesn't have any immediate family members who were adopted. She did, however, babysit and nanny for a family who's two children were adopted. She started babysitting their first child as an infant, and was close to the family when they adopted their second child. Witnessing the joy and elation they felt after adopting their second child has always stuck with her. Adoption has been something she felt called to do for a long time - before she was even married.
The idea of adopting was something we found we had in common when we started dating. Once we received our infertility diagnosis, we realized this is what God wanted us to do all along. We are so excited to be on this journey and can't wait to become parents.
When we got married, almost five years ago, we went to Maui, Hawaii on our honeymoon. It was paradise! Megan had never traveled to Hawaii, and it was a dream come true to be able to go. Not only did we love lounging on the beach and by the pool at our hotel, but we also loved exploring the island and culture itself of Maui.
One of our favorite memories of the trip was when we took our convertible up the Road to Hana, which twists and turns up a mountain. There are several waterfalls and hikes to stop at on your way up. We bought sack lunches prior to leaving and ate them on the way. It was amazing to see the rain forest so up close while riding in a convertible with the top down.
We hope to return one day, and we would love to take our children. That island is begging to make family memories and we are first in line to do so!
If you haven't been able to tell by now, our family is our number one priority in our lives. We grew up in close families and developed several family traditions over the years. Some of our favorite traditions include Christmas brunch with Adam's family, and eating unique birthday cakes in Megan's family birthday parties.
On Christmas morning, we have a beautiful brunch with Adam's family. Adam's mom makes enough food to feed a small army - ham, monkey bread, coffee cake, fruit, egg casserole, bacon - to name a few dishes we traditionally eat. It is so special to gather around the table and thank God for bringing us together on Christmas morning. We plan to continue this tradition with our children, but we imagine we will probably open quite a few gifts before we head out to brunch. We can't wait for those days!
Megan grew up each year having a big birthday party with friends and family. Her mom would let her pick whatever cake she wanted. One year, her mom even let her have a Backstreet Boys ice cream cake that was funfetti flavored. We plan on continuing this tradition with our children - big birthday parties, and whatever cake they want!
