What Makes Us Unique
Hiking in the Rockies

David grew up in central California, a couple of hours from the ocean and an hour from the mountains. As a child, he always looked forward to family camping trips in the summer; they went a long way to shaping his love of the outdoors and traveling in general. David looks forward to sharing those same types of experiences with a child and instilling in them a passion for adventure.

When David is not working on the house or tinkering with his computer, he enjoys reading and watching programs about history. He also loves going on adventures around where he lives- he takes the dog for hikes in the mountains, goes fly fishing or explores a new exhibit at a museum.

Samantha grew up in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. She fell in love with nature and the mountains during her summers at camp in the mountains. She has since taken that love and turned it into a career as a science teacher. There is nothing she loves more than nurturing kids and helping them learn and discover. She also enjoys hiking, biking, gardening- any opportunity to appreciate being outside!

For a while, she worked on a farm in Vermont and Hawaii, and love growing unique vegetables, like white eggplants and purple carrots, which thankfully David can turn into a great meal! Her down-time at home includes crafts, cooking, playing with the animals and movies on the Hallmark Channel (a big guilty pleasure!).

Education We Will Provide
Exploring a Museum With Our Cousin

As we both work in schools, we are extremely devoted to education and look forward to being active in our child's school. Our neighborhood is full of children, with lots of options for early childhood education. The schools in our area are highly rated as some of the best in the state, and Samantha currently works at one of the best middle school in the state. Our child will receive a great education, as well as be part of a diverse community, as it is important to us that our child grows up with children from other cultural and economic backgrounds. We feel diversity is the best environment for raising both intelligent and open-minded children. We also both went to college, and we are excited to share that opportunity with a child in the future.

We also will expose our child to many kinds of learning experiences as they grow up, as we both enjoy sharing our naturalist skills and learning experientially. Our lives will include many visits to national and state parks, museums, camping trips, fishing, libraries, as well as vacations and road trips traveling somewhere new. Our goal is to provide a strong foundation for our child, both with schooling and real-life experience, so they're well-rounded and ready to accomplish any goal they pursue in life.

Our Family Traditions
We Love Snowshoeing!

When we first met, we both lived in Los Angeles. Since we moved to a location with four seasons, we have begun forming traditions together and we cannot wait to share them with a child!

Summer: We always kick off summer with a trip to a Rockies' game. As summer continues, we take an annual vacation of a road trip, checking out the national parks and cities located nearby (last year we went to Yellowstone and Grand Tetons).

Fall: Hiking in Colorado during the fall is a beautiful experience with all of the turning leaves - it's our favorite time to be outdoors. Also, Halloween is a big deal in our neighborhood. Everyone breaks out the spooky decorations, as we live in an area filled with trick-or-treating kids.

Winter: With over 300 days of sunshine, winters in Colorado are easy to love. We love snowshoeing and skiing. Each year on Christmas Eve, we host a potluck dinner, with cookie decorating, Hanukkah candle lighting, laughter, and stories. This is a new tradition for us that we look forward to continuing as our family grows.

Spring: Spring is when all of the plants sprout and we enjoy taking walks and hikes to see our area back in bloom. We enjoy going to museums this time of year since spring is when they all have the new exhibits. Colorado also has a variety of spring festivals in the different towns, all with their own uniqueness.
