Isn't it crazy how life works? Never in a million years did we think we'd be writing a letter like this, and you probably never thought you'd be reading letters like these yet, here we all are. We know it takes love and courage making an adoption plan. We'd love to learn your hopes and dreams for your child. In the meantime, we'd like to share a bit about ourselves and our family.
We enjoy being outside, whether that is taking a walk around our neighborhood most nights after dinner or taking a picnic to a park where we can go hiking, biking and exploring. We like to spend lots of time outside at our family’s lake cottage, which is about 2 hours from our home. We spend most weekends in the summer at the cottage, with a lot of our family and friends. It is a great place to relax, spend time in the water, tube, wakeboard, swim, fish, etc. We have four families that share our lane with us at the lakes. There are always tons of kids outside playing, sharing meals together, having bonfires and just relaxing. We can’t wait to start making special memories with our child at the lake and watching them play with all the lake kids!
We enjoy spending time with our family and friends, whether that is sharing a home cooked meal together or discovering a new restaurant, or watching movies and simply hanging out. We love having our nieces and nephews over for sleepovers, cheering for them at sporting events or supporting their other extracurricular activities, playing games, reading books, and so much more. Two of our nieces are in college and we enjoy visiting them, taking them out for a meal, sending them care packages, hearing what they are learning and discovering while in college.
Karey About Brad: Brad is fiercely loyal in relationships. I appreciate the way he makes it a priority that we spend quality time with our families. He shows this same dedication to our close friends. He is generous especially with his time, as he loves to surprise a friend by completing one of their home improvement projects, helping one of our nephews build a model car or supporting and encouraging me to pursue my interests. He gives more than he receives. He is compassionate, caring and has a passion for life. Brad is very patient and diligent, especially when he is trying to figure something out, he will research and learn the best solution. He makes me smile and has a calming effect on me.
Brad About Karey: Karey is very kind, loving and giving. She always tries to see the best in people. She will often put other people’s need above hers. One of her talents is knitting, which she learned from her grandmother. She uses this gift to create toys, hats, etc. for friends and family. She is also great at hand writing notes and cards of thanks and encouragement to friends and family. She will often ask friends if we can watch their children, so that they may enjoy a night out. Spending time with nieces and nephews is a priority, as family is very important to her. When we travel, she is always willing to try something new.
Every adoptive and birth family brings their unique story and love with them in an open adoption. We see this as an opportunity to open our hearts to an entire family. By getting to know our child's birth family, we hope to learn their story, their family history and what makes them unique. We hope that having an open adoption will provide us with a sense of contentment and help us aspire to be the best parent that we can be. Our belief is that we all win when we collectively put the child's needs first and being open-minded - and more importantly open-hearted, is the way to go. We are caring, compassionate and true to our word and we hope we respect each other’s boundaries in our open adoption. We wait expectantly and are honored to be part of this adoption story and to celebrate this extraordinary connection through open adoption.
