We were blessed with our first child through adoption. We have so much room in our hearts and our home for another child and look forward to the opportunity of having another baby come into our lives through the gift of adoption. We live in a joy-filled home and would like to invite you to join us and learn more about our wonderful family and exciting life.
We originally tried to conceive a child naturally, but, to our surprise, God had other plans for us. His plan for us was to create our family through adoption and we followed His call. That plan came into fruition with our son, Matías, who we adopted as an infant in 2016.
We met Matías on the day he was born and it was love at first sight. He is now 18 months old and full of energy. He loves books, puzzles, being with us in the kitchen, watching soccer with Mauricio, going to the park, and dancing to music. Matías recently said his first words which were both Spanish words. He is the first grandson for Christine's parents and was the first boy grandchild for Mauricio's parents. Both families have so much love for him and can't wait to welcome another child into the family. We know that Matías will be a loving and caring big brother, and it will be fun to see him play and interact with his new sibling.
We always talked about having more than one child, so now that we are ready to grow our family, there was no hesitation to pursue adoption again. Each adoption journey is unique and we, along with our families, look forward to the one God has planned for us this second time.
We love to travel and have gone on several trips together. One of our favorite places is Ecuador, Mauricio's home country. We have traveled there several times. On the most recent trip, we took Christine's parents and also our son, Matías, to celebrate his first birthday. We enjoyed the beaches, the mountains, the warm weather, and visiting many friends and family. We ate delicious food, especially lots of fresh seafood. We look forward to traveling there many more times and to allow our children to grow up learning about Mauricio's culture. We love to explore new cities each time we go and hope to one day travel to the Galapagos islands.
Mauricio was born and raised in Ecuador and his first language is Spanish. Although the majority of his family now lives in the states, he still has much of his extended family back in Ecuador. We travel there every other year to stay connected to his friends, family and culture.
Christine comes from a bi-racial family. Her dad's family background is German, English and Irish. Her mom's family background is Mexican. She didn't grow up speaking Spanish, but studied it in high school and college. She lived in Spain to increase her fluency. We have decided to make Spanish the main language in our home. Our son's first words have been in Spanish and we will continue to speak Spanish to our children at home and nurture this important piece of our family culture.
