Why We Chose Adoption
Our Family at Christmas

Our road to starting a family was not what we expected. After experiencing two unsuccessful pregnancies over the course of a year and a half, we finally got pregnant with our daughter. Soon into our pregnancy, we found out there were medical complications and Brea underwent surgery while pregnant and our daughter was born a couple months later. Our daughter brought us so much joy that soon after she was born, we started thinking about our next steps to expand our family. Due to the surgery, it is high risk for Brea to carry another child naturally, so we started looking into adoption. We didn't know much about it at that point, and have learned so much over that last two years. We look forward to meeting a birth mother who trusts us to raise her child as our own and develop a relationship with us if she chooses. We love being parents and can't wait to share that love with another child. Even though adoption may have been an unexpected path, we are so thankful to be starting this journey and can't wait to grow our family through adoption.

Our Leisure Time
At the Grand Canyon With Friends

We love to travel and have been lucky enough to continue traveling even after our daughter was born. Each year, we plan a fun, week-long vacation somewhere new, and take advantage of long weekends throughout the year to take smaller trips, such as traveling in and around Wisconsin to see family, or visiting other cities in the Midwest such as Chicago or Detroit. One of our favorite trips was to Italy and just this past year, we visited Arizona and the Grand Canyon with our family friends.

When we aren't traveling, we enjoy being active and outdoors throughout the year. In the summer we love being near the water and having BBQs and bonfires in our backyard. The fall is our favorite season with lots of football, pumpkin patches and farmers markets filling up our weekends. In the winter, we enjoy skiing and snowboarding, and can’t wait to teach our kids how to ski and snowboard too someday. The spring is filled with gardening, yard work, and enjoying the warmer weather as much as possible.

We are lucky to have a great group of friends who also have young children, that we consider family. Whenever we can, we like getting together to watch a game, take a trip downtown, or have a game night where both the adults and the kids can have fun together. We can't wait to add another little one to our big, extended family.

Cultural Diversity

We look forward to embracing a child as a part of our family regardless of race or ethnic background. Right now, our family is Caucasian, but our neighborhood and community are great places to live and raise interracial children where all will feel comfortable and accepted. Our city is home to a large university and several business headquarters that bring people from across the world to our city, resulting in cultural diversity. Our local school district and daycare center have children from a variety of ethnic backgrounds and offer curriculum in multiple languages.

We are open-minded and accepting of all backgrounds and choose to surround ourselves with other families that feel the same. We have friends and neighbors who are interracial families, and we look forward to meeting more diverse families as we continue to grow. We are excited to learn about and incorporate our child's cultural heritage into our lives. As parents, we will be proactive to educate ourselves, and our child, about their heritage and history, and help them understand why it’s important. We look forward to exploring activities, events, and groups in our community that embrace cultural diversity, so that both of our children grow up understanding and celebrating our differences, and similarities.
