We would like to express our sincerest gratitude for taking the time to review our profile. Our small-town values of faith and family are at the center of our everyday lives. We know that we will make excellent parents and welcome the opportunity to expand our family. Thank you again for considering us and we look forward to the journey that lies ahead!
We both have very Type A personalities and therefore spend a lot of our time in the evenings openly discussing our feelings and plans for the future. During these conversations we tend to focus on our two priorities in life; family and faith.
At the top of our list is family. Regardless of how the rest of our day/week has played out, the happiness and safety of our family is of the utmost importance to us. Nate has been a strong leader in our family, always stating that "together, we can do anything". As a family, it is imperative that we remain unified and supportive of one another, which is why "quality time" with friends and family holds such a special place in our hearts.
Though we may place the majority of our thoughts and attention on the value of family, faith is at the core of everything we do. Every evening before bed, we read from our Daily Devotional book and on the weekends we attend mass as a family. We prayed for a very long time for God to show us how he planned for us to grow our family and through that we were led on our journey to adoption.
After our very first date, we decided to start a journal where we could document all of the adventures we experienced together and we continue this habit today. Sometimes the entries are capturing the big moments in our lives, such as our first trip as a couple to Colorado or the awards conferences we attended for Nate's work in Palm Springs and Banff, Canada. Other times they are reflective of the meaningful junctures in our life such as when our parents met for the first time, when Alaina learned to crawl or when we made the decision to begin our journey to adoption.
Both of our mothers have cultivated this adventurous spirit in us and the ability to create memorable moments in our daily lives. We've turned rainy days into opportunities for play time in the muddy puddles and a simple bath into a glow stick filled "rainbow bath." Regardless of the situation or circumstance, we enjoy thinking outside of the box and making it a moment to remember forever!
Though we are unable to have children of our own together, we are blessed to be co-parenting Nate's daughter (Kelsey's step-daughter) Alaina. We have an excellent relationship with her mother and currently have a shared custody arrangement where we get her every Wednesday and every other weekend (Friday through Monday).
Alaina brings so much joy to this family. She just celebrated her 4th birthday, loves the color orange and wants to be a police officer when she grows up. Alaina looks and acts just like her Daddy and has him wrapped around her little finger. We jokingly refer to Nate as a "helicopter Dad" as he is very protective of Alaina's safety and feelings. Though she goes to Daddy for the boo boo kisses, Alaina is Kelsey's little shadow. She is always sitting on her lap or as close as she can be, requests to use her chaptstick and makeup and most recently prefers when they are dressed the same.
The toy of choice for Alaina is a baby doll and her favorite game to play is "school." She has proven in so many ways that she is ready to be a big sister, and we are so excited to provide her with this opportunity soon!
