Let us begin by thanking you for considering adoption. This can be a very difficult time and we know how very brave and selfless you are for considering adoption for your child. Choosing adoption can be one of the best gifts you can offer your child. By creating your own adoption plan, you can make sure your child knows about you and knows that this was a sacrifice you made out of love. American Adoptions understands that this can be a very overwhelming time and we will work with you to reduce some of your anxiety and fear.

The staff at American Adoptions knows how special adoption is and just how wonderful you are for considering this option. In fact, our agency's director, Scott Mars, and his adoptive parents, Ted and Susan, founded American Adoptions as a way to say thank you for the loving, selfless gift that brought their family together. Adoption could never be possible without amazing birth mothers and fathers like you who choose life and love for their children. Scott will always feel respect and eternal love for his birth mother who gave him this gift.

We understand that it is very normal to have doubt and to wonder if you are doing the right thing. Everyone has doubt when they make important decisions and this is a very important decision. Television shows, family, friends and news articles can add to this doubt and uncertainty. This is why you should surround yourself with people who support you and know how special you are for considering adoption. This is your decision; nobody else can make this decision for you. You have to do what is best for you and your baby.

There are essentially five steps that you can expect to complete while working on your adoption plan. These five steps are listed below to help you understand the process. One of the best ways to take care of yourself and know if adoption is right for you and your child is to educate yourself about adoption and prepare yourself for what will happen.
