Backaches
Due to the increasing weight that pulls on the spine and the natural shifts of gravity on your body because of the additional weight, backaches are often very common if not almost something to expect in pregnant woman. (See also Pelvic Discomfort)
Also an increase in size of breasts due to the preparation to nurse can also lead to back discomfort depending on how large the breasts get.
Remedies &/or Prevention:
- Good Posture.
- Be careful lifting objects. Bend at the knee – DO NOT lean over!
- Wear supportive shoes. Sneakers with spongy soles are very helpful.
- Avoid High Heels!!
- Swim.
- Do Yoga.
- Use a heat compress (heating pad).
- REST!!!
- Avoid over the counter medications without Doctor approval
- Get a pregnancy massage (see also pregnancy massage)
