Frequent Urination
During pregnancy, a woman experiences an increased need to urinate more frequently. This is totally normal, and is in fact, a good sign!
Pregnant women experience a fairly dramatic increase in the amount of fluid coursing through their systems. This increase in fluid has to be processed through your kidneys just as before, which is in turn processed by your brain as an increased need to urinate.
Another reason for the need to urinate often is the increase in pressure on the uterus. As pregnancy progresses so will the pressure making a pregnant woman in her last trimester feel as though she has to go all the time.
Remedies and/or Prevention:
- Stay hydrated but avoid and an excess of fluids.
- Empty bladder completely.
- Don’t hold it in. When you gotta go, GO!
- Wear a panty liner in the event of minor leaks (when you cough, sneeze, laugh, etc.)
- Work on kegel exercises, which help strengthen the muscle that assists in the stop and go flow of urine.
