Austin & Molly
Adoption is something we have prayed over for several years and are excited to begin our journey. We know this may be a tough decision for you and we hope to give you a glimpse of the love and joy adding a child to our family would bring. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us.
We have one son named Callaway. He is 9 years old. Cal, CalJo, Calboy, and Smudge are some of the many nicknames we have for him. Cal loves legos, books, video games, and in general is typically a joyful boy. He is always willing to help his mom with housework. In addition he likes getting dirty with dad gardening.
Cal attends one of the local schools and is in 4th grade. He enjoys math. He is very sociable. Austin comes from a big family and Cal really likes being around other kids. He is very excited to be a big brother. We know that he will be a significant source of help to both us and the child as they grow. He asks regularly when it will be time for his little brother or sister.
What we love about Cal is his kind and joyful spirit. We are in awe of the amazing creation of each of us that makes us unique.
Our Leisure Time
Weekends and nights are so much fun, we enjoy relaxing together but we love getting out and seeing the world. We love spending time outdoors whenever we get the chance. Whether it’s hiking up mountains, fishing, going on jeep rides, or spending weekends at the lake, we love seeing the beautiful world around us. We are very lucky to have family that lives by the lake. Most weekends during the summer are spent wake surfing or cruising around the lake. Callaway loves tubing behind his uncles boat with his cousins and friends. There is something relaxing about being in nature, taking in all the world around you and enjoying the smallest of things.
Most of our leisurely time is spent with family and close friends, we absolutely love our community. We have a close group of friends that we spend most our time with. Getting together for dinners and just doing life together. We’ve even traveled together, some places include Aruba, Florida, and of course lake trips.
How We Met
When we first started dating in 2004 we discovered our paths have crossed a few times before we really knew each other.
When Molly‘s family first moved to town we moved into a house right down the street from where Austin‘s family lived. Many summer days were spent riding bikes down the same streets. We also attended the same church where Austin‘s father was on the pastoral staff, a few years later we would attend the same high school youth group but it wasn’t until one of Molly‘s best friends introduced us one night at a dinner that we finally got to know one another.
We instantly connected with each other and felt more comfortable with one another than anyone before. After that first night of hanging out we were both excited to spend more time together. After only six months of dating we got engaged and were married over a year later.
Our Extended Families
We are very blessed with a close relationship on both sides of our family. Everyone is beyond excited to have a new addition to the family through adoption. Austin is 1 of 14 children, four of which are adopted from all over the world. Austins parents live by the lake in Oklahoma and we get to see them at least twice a month. Mia and Papa have a very deep love for all 16 of their grandkids and are excited to welcome in a new grandchild. One of Austin’s brothers, who is also one of his closest friends, lives within walking distance from our home.
Molly is the youngest of 3 sisters, and although there is some age gaps between them, they are extremely close. Both of Molly’s sisters live within 45 minutes from our house and we get together as often as we can. Molly’s parents live about 15 minutes away and cannot wait to have another grandchild to love on. Molly’s dad recently retired from practicing family medicine and has been loving the added time to spend with their five grandkids. Mimi and Pops are always known for the fun times at their house.
Some of our favorite family tradition is sharing what we are most thankful for each year, at Christmas Pops gets all the kids Christmas pajamas. We also travel to the lake frequently to spend time with Austin‘s family as well as some of our closest friends who are basically like family.
Our House and Neighborhood
We live in Kansas in a medium size town that still has a small feel. Our home is in a safe neighborhood with lots of families that have children. The common area includes a swimming pool and a recently renovated playground. Nearby there is a city park that has spacious green space and a walking trail. Frequently throughout the year there are community events held there such as food festivals, music, etc.
Our house has 4 bedrooms, an office, and two living room areas. We love spending time in our living rooms both upstairs and downstairs. However our favorite is likely the basement movie area in living room. We have a large fenced back yard with a sturdy swing set. Austin's brother lives within walking distance and has two children. We spend a good deal of time with each other and other close friends. Just a short 15 minute drive and we are at Mimi's house. Mimi is Molly's mom and is a very loving Grandmother. Her husband Paul is an excellent role model for boys as well.
From Us to You
We first just want to say that you are loved, and this decision you are making is already being prayed over. We don’t know what led you here, but we want to thank you for this opportunity. This child you are carrying will know how selfless you were and that you loved them enough to put their needs before your own. If you choose to have us walk this journey with you we promise to provide a safe loving home where they can grow and become the person God has designed them to be.
As a couple, first and foremost we are best friend and partners. We are celebrating 15 years of marriage this year, we have seen challenges and we have seen joy.
We have a son Callaway who is nine. He has a joyous attitude that can be felt by anyone around him. He is beyond excited for the chance to become a big brother and asked us daily when he’ll get a baby brother or sister. He can’t wait to help with taking care of his new sibling and giving them all the love and protection a big brother can give.
Adoption is something we have talked about even before we were married. We had a slim chance of being able to have biological children so we had discussed adding a child by adoption. After some complications when Callaway was two, Molly underwent a full hysterectomy. After a few years God put it on our hearts to add to our family and we began researching adoption options. Both of us have close friends and family that are either adopted or have a child from adoption.
Our faith is the most important part of us. We believe that we are all adopted into the family of God. We would not be where we are today without the work of God in our lives. We are excited to share that relationship with this child. We will show them and teach them how God sees them, as His beautiful masterpiece, chosen, wanted, adored, and immeasurably loved.
We imagine you are feeling many emotions at this time. If we were in your situation we would be the same. Hopefully our commitments below help you as you confront those concerns.
We promise to love and provide for this child, we will protect them from harm to the best of our abilities. We will provide a safe home and support them in their education. We will encourage them physically and mentally to achieve the things they enjoy. We promise to have movie night regularly, to eat pizza, and to play card games. We promise to hug often, snuggle long, do dance parties, and sing loudly.
We can't imagine what you are going through right now. We want the child we adopt to know that their mom put their child ahead of them self. We will share letters and pictures several times a year. When its appropriate, we want our child to understand that sacrifice and to be able to know who their birth mother is. We want you to know ongoing that your child is safe, healthy, provided for, and thriving.
