Eric & Carrie

For two people who generally would rather talk about anything other than themselves, pouring our collective life and heart on these pages is not a simple task, but the motivation is powerful and the sentiment genuine. We believe it is a huge honor and privilege to become adoptive parents and we accept our responsibilities to you and your child with the utmost respect and commitment. We appreciate the difficult decisions you have to make and hope you will consider us. We could not be more excited to expand our world of unconditional love by adopting. We are open books, so please jump in and take a look around!

What it Means to be a Parent

Hiking in Yellowstone National Park

Parenting to us is getting to help a child grow into a happy, successful person by providing them love, care, support and guidance throughout their life. Parenting is forever and not a commitment we take lightly, but we know that it will be an experience and journey unparalleled to anything else in life.

We are looking forward to being active participants throughout their lives and always being there for anything they need, big or small. We can't wait to take them taveling and show them the world. We also look forward to family dinners, bedtime stories and getting to teach them about all the things we love. As they grow and thrive we look forward to the days that we get to teach them to ride a bike, kick a soccer ball, and make grandma's alfredo recipe. We are most looking forward to all the things that they will teach us.

Discussing Adoption

We promise to always be open and honest with our child about their adoption journey.

While taking their ability to understand adoption into consideration, we understand we will need to tailor the conversation as they grow to accommodate them based on that point in their life.

Our hope through having an open adoption is that their birth parents can be part of their lives instead of just someone that we talk about with them. Growing up with the ability to communicate with their birth parents will ideally help them realize that all the parents in their life wanted to create a stable foundation for them to grow and thrive.

We feel that talking about the adoption regularly can help build trust between us and the child and it will also give them a chance to ask questions and share their thoughts and feelings. We plan to always use positive adoption language to instill in the child a positive perception of adoption.

Cultural Heritage

Eric has Scottish, Irish and Dutch in his heritage, and his red hair and light complexion are definitely evidence of that. We enjoy going to the Irish Fest every year, and one of his favorite meals is Sheperds Pie, especially when his Aunt makes it.

Eric has some great pictures of his paternal grandfather in Holland in his wooden shoes. Carrie has Scottish, Polish, Native American and Italian in her heritage. She has fond memories of her maternal great, great grandparents showing her and her cousins their grandparents headress that was handed down through the family. She also has fond memories of holidays at her Polish maternal great grandmothers house with 60 people all shoved into a tiny home and all the amazing polish food, it was so much fun! Povitica is still a favorite sweet treat.

Carrie's paternal Italian grandmother taught her how to make her alfredo sauce before she passed, and it is a favorite family tradition. We look forward to sharing our cultural heritage with a child and also learning and celebrating theirs.

Our Extended Families

Carrie's Dad and Step-Mom

We strongly believe that family includes everyone in our core circle, whether they are related by blood or not. We have been extremely blessed to have been given an amazing circle of people that we get to live life with.

We live close to Carrie's family, which includes a brother, parents and an entire gaggle of cousins. We have family gatherings for every holiday and often random weekends in between to just be together, eat too much, laugh, play games and let the kids run around and have fun. It's organized chaos at its best.

The entire family can't wait to have another little one to spoil rotten, Grandma and Grandpa especially. Eric has one sister that lives in his hometown in Illinois, she and her family are also very excited to meet the new family addition. We often meet half way for day trips to the zoo, planetarium, baseball games, or just to spend time together. We also have friends close by that are often part of our weekend plans and they are all excited and supportive of our journey to grow our family through adoption.

Our House and Neighborhood

Home Sweet Home

Missouri - We live in Missouri, in the cutest little suburb. We really love the area and we are just minutes away from the schools, a few parks with playgrounds, and community swimming pools. Our house has 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, 2 living areas, and a kitchen and dining room. It also has a glassed in porch and outdoor living space, which is definitely a favorite spot for us and where we spend much of our time when weather allows it.

We love our neighborhood because it is full of diverse, growing families.  There are always kids outside playing and riding bikes. Everyone is just kind and watches out for each others kids. Our neighbors across the street often get out the riding mower and hook up the "choo choo" kids train and give all the little ones rides, it's so fun to watch. There will be no shortage of friends to be made for a child in this neighborhood.

From Us to You

This is a difficult letter to write to someone we haven't met, so we hope you can feel the sincerity and heart that is being poured into this page. We appreciate you taking the time to get to know us through our profile. We admire you so much for considering adoption. We know this is a difficult and stressful time for you while you are trying to figure out the best option for you and your baby. We hope that you feel supported and loved no matter where you are at in your journey.

We met in our late 20's through one of the more modern ways to meet someone, on a dating website. We were married 3 years later in a small, beautiful ceremony surrounded by family and close friends in our big backyard under an oak tree. We have been married for 4 years now and have been wanting to expand our family for a long time. We had always discussed adoption and had planned to pursue it at some point. We tried naturally for a long time and through multiple miscarriages we came to the realization that adoption was the right journey for us. We feel deeply in our hearts that this is how we were meant to expand our family all along, it just took the roller coaster of life to show us that. Throughout every trial and tribulation we have encountered we have been able to remain a solid team, and our love has only gotten stronger.

Eric is a financial aid counselor at a local university. He really enjoys the tremendous benefits and that it affords him a great work/life balance. He's always busy either cooking, doing a home project, or even building some of our favorite pieces of furniture. He is always eager to lend a hand when family or friends need help. He has a huge passion for sports and pre-pandemic he played in an indoor soccer league which is something he been involved in since he was 4. He plans to share this passion for sports with the child and is extremely excited to take them to their first professional game.

Carrie implements software programs for a healthcare company and absolutely loves what she does. The programs she works on have a direct impact on how people that live with chronic conditions can access help, and that is a huge passion of hers. She has worked from home for the last 6 years and loves the flexibility that this allows. This freedom will enable her to be available for the child much more than a traditional work environment. Carrie also loves to read and can't wait to share this passion. While Eric is the main chef in the house, Carrie has a few select dishes that she loves to make, like her Grandma's alfredo recipe. She can't wait to pass this down to a child.

There are many things we will promise you if we are chosen to parent your child. We will do our very best to give him or her every opportunity we can. We will honor you in our home and we will always hold you in a special place in our hearts. We hope to build a life long friendship with you and we will be happy to keep you up to date on milestones throughout the child's life and provide photos, letters, emails, the occasional phone call and even plan future visits when the time is right. Your child will always know their adoption story and the unconditional love you have for them. We embrace the role you will play, whatever you chose for that to be.

Thank you for taking the time to read our profile and considering us.

Sincerely,

Eric & Carrie
