Corey & Kerrie
Thank you for considering us as potential parents for your child and taking the time to look at our profile. We are very excited to start building our family and are looking forward to providing your child with a loving home. We understand that this is an extremely difficult decision and admire your strength and desire to do what is best for your child.
Our Leisure Time

We are both avid readers and look forward to imparting our love for reading to a child. We are also both big sports fans, especially football. We watch it together every Sunday during the season and look forward to sharing our passion for the game.
Kerrie loves to bake, be it cookies, cakes, pies, or bread. She wants to be the mom that always has some fresh baked snacks ready for when friends come over. Corey is an engineer and loves to build things. Like many builders, he loves to construct with LEGOs and can't wait to share this with a child.
Kerrie is a veterinarian and loves to work with animals, especially cats. There is a local cat rescue where she has volunteered. Corey is an Eagle Scout and life-long member of the Scouting program. Having already served as both Assistant Scoutmaster and Scoutmaster, he is extremely excited to get involved again.
Kerrie also enjoys whale watching and being out on the ocean. Since Corey unfortunately gets sea sick, Kerrie is looking forward to having someone to share her love of the ocean with.
Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other

Kerrie loves Corey's kindness and willingness to help others with problems (especially the computer stuff!). She also admires his organizational skills and focus as well as his ability to problem solve and make sure things go smoothly when planning a trip or renovations around the house. She also loves how excited he gets each year around the holidays, especially Halloween. He loves to be the house with the full size candy bars and to greet all the trick or treaters.
Corey loves Kerrie's view of wonder for the world. She is endlessly curious, especially about plants and animals. He loves that she gets so excited to play with her pets, or when her new plants begin to grow and flower. Corey admires Kerrie's ability to interact with other people. She is always able to make conversation with others. She pushes him to be more social, even when he doesn't want to be. Corey greatly respects the way Kerrie is able to face down any challenge. Even if she needs help along the way, she can persevere and come out the other end stronger for it.
How We Met

We met during our sophomore year at the University of Delaware. We had both signed up to be mentors to incoming freshmen in the Honors Program. During our time training and working in this role we became close friends. Towards the end of our senior year, we began dating. A few months later, Kerrie moved to Missouri to begin veterinary school, while Corey continued at UD working on his Master's Degree. We continued our relationship long distance, even after Corey graduated and moved to California. Although it was difficult only seeing each other a few times a year, we either spoke or video chatted every day. After 4 years, Kerrie joined Corey in California and we moved in together. A few years later, during a trip back to University of Delaware, Corey proposed to Kerrie and we got married the following year at the San Francisco Zoo surrounded by friends, family, and some grazing antelope.

Our House and Neighborhood

Living in the Bay Area, we are lucky to be part of a diverse and multi-cultural community. We live in a quiet suburb on the outskirts of town. Thanks to our location, we have excellent access to many county and state parks, with miles of excellent hiking trails. We also live close enough to be able to take advantage of the many activities and events held in town. We are lucky to be close to multiple zoos, museums, and local beaches that are a short drive away.
Our home is a split-level townhouse with 3 bedrooms and a small backyard. Our house is open plan and we spend most of our time in the living room/kitchen area. Our neighborhood has a community pool and a few open grassy areas. These community areas are often used by the other families to meet and socialize. Many of the families in our neighborhood have children that like to play outside, especially when the weather is nice. Our neighborhood has a number of small walking trails and a park within walking distance.
Our Extended Families

Our families are very important to both of us, and we love to stay in close contact with them. Because of the pandemic, we haven't been able to visit family as often as we would like, but thanks to technology we can still stay connected.

We're both especially close to our siblings – Kerrie has a sister who lives in England (where Kerrie is originally from) and a brother in Louisiana, and Corey's sister lives in Texas. Kerrie's parents live in Massachusetts, and most of Corey's family are in Pennsylvania. Before the pandemic we visited family often, including Kerrie's family in England, and look forward to resuming that when things settle down. We're excited about the idea of traveling as a family and sharing the unique experiences of a global family.
One of Corey's favorite family traditions is the annual Glop gathering. Glop is an old family chili recipe, and every year people make their own versions and we come together to share and reconnect. When we get together with Kerrie's family, we eat lots of good food (especially British favorites like Yorkshire pudding), and take walks together or play board games. Kerrie's family also has a tradition of Sunday phone calls, and we often Facetime with her parents, grandparents, and siblings on Sundays.
Our parents are very excited to meet their first grandchild, and our siblings are looking forward to being aunts and uncles.
From Us to You
Thank you so much for considering us as adoptive parents for your child. We understand that this is an extremely difficult decision to make and a challenging time for you. We want to assure you that we will provide a loving family environment for your child.
Our relationship has a strong foundation. We've known each other for over 13 years, have been together for 11, and married for 3. Over the years, we've had to work through illness, deaths in the family, and living apart while Kerrie finished her schooling, but this has only served to strengthen our relationship. We are so excited to start a family together. We have always been interested in adoption, and due to a medical condition, we decided not to have biological children.
It is our goal to raise a child to be kind, curious, and to have fun! It's also very important to Corey to pass down the values he learned as a life-long member of the Scouting program, to be trustworthy, help others, and be courteous. Kerrie, a veterinarian, wants to share her love of animals and to teach a child to always be kind and gentle to animals.
We are so fortunate to live in an area that provides tremendous opportunities for children to learn and grow. The San Francisco Bay Area is also extremely culturally diverse. There are many top tier schools around that will give children the best education, a wide variety of extracurricular activities, and the best chance to succeed. While we both have higher education degrees, we would encourage our child to make their own choices about what is right for them, and would support any decision our child would make regarding their education.
Although this would be our first child, our pets are very important parts of our lives and family. We have two cats, Tessa and Cleo, that have been around almost our whole relationship. We also have recently added two guinea pigs to our family, Merry and Pippin. We are very excited to share our love for animals with a child.
Both of our extended families are very excited for us. Everyone has been extremely supportive of our decision. This will be the first grandchild for both of our parents and they cannot wait to meet (and spoil!) them. Our family is spread throughout the country and beyond. We have family members on the east coast and in the south, and Kerrie has many family members in England. We plan to visit family often once the pandemic has ended.
We fully support the idea of having an open adoption and want make sure that you remain a part of the child's life. We cannot wait to start this next chapter in our lives and look forward to sharing letters and pictures with you. We hope that you will be open to exchanging emails and phone calls, in addition to receiving the letters. We want the child to know that while this was a difficult decision, you love them and wanted to give them the best life possible.
Again, thank you for taking the time to read through our profile. We sincerely wish the best for you as you make your decision and hope that we have shown you that we would make a loving family for your child.
