Ryan & Victoria
Thank you for taking the time to look at our profile and for considering us on this journey. We believe adoption is a beautiful act of love and a gift from God. We can't wait to add a child to our family. Our home is filled with joy, love, and laughter. We honor and respect the brave decision you're making and this child will always know that.
Why We Chose Adoption
We already have two adoption stories in our family. Victoria's great-grandfather was adopted, and Ryan's mom was adopted. We can't wait to add a third adoption to our family's story.
Ryan's mother was an orphan in South Korea. At the age of 5, she was adopted by a family living in Kansas. If it weren't for adoption, Ryan wouldn't be here. We love talking with Ryan's mom and her family about her adoption. Ryan's mom and her family are so grateful for how adoption brought so much joy to their life. Adoption is an extraordinary act of love.
Adoption has always been a part of the plan to build our family and we discussed it from the beginning of our relationship. After we got married, we tried for years to start a family naturally. After a couple of years and failed fertility treatments, we felt God whispering to us that our plan for adoption should start now. God opened the door to adoption. We feel nothing but peace on this journey and know God wants us to adopt to complete our family.
Our Promise to You
We are so thankful and truly humbled you took the time to get to know us through our profile. We are really looking forward to becoming parents. We know this journey can be difficult and we want you to know we are praying for you and this child. We can't imagine the weight of the decisions you have to make. Your willingness to choose adoption is brave, honorable, and admirable.
We promise this child will also be safe, happy, and loved. This child will be our everything and we will do anything for him or her. We promise to advocate for this child every chance we get. Our home is filled with love, laughter, and learning. We promise to create beautiful memories with this child. We want the best for our child and want our child to feel special. We want them to have a diverse set of memorable experiences. Lastly, we promise you will be honored in our family. Our child will know about their adoption story and how much you love them. We can't wait to share letters, emails, pictures, and phone calls with you.
We believe an individual's culture is a part of his or her identity. Each person's unique culture should be honored and celebrated. In our relationship, our most memorable moments are sharing each other's cultures and experiencing the cultures of our loved ones. We embrace learning new and different cultural traditions, history, and food. No matter what culture our child comes from, it will be a priority for us to learn about and embrace his or her culture. Our hope is that our child's cultural traditions become our family's traditions.
As an interracial couple, we have had to navigate others' questions about race and diversity. Ultimately, we explain to others that our relationship boils down to one thing - love. Diversity makes our family interesting and exciting. We believe diversity is a strength. Our love extends far beyond appearances. We are excited to share our love with a child from any cultural background and will embrace diversity within our family.
Our House and Neighborhood
We live in a suburb less than 30 minutes from a major metropolitan area. Our local school district is one of the top districts in our state and has several schools nationally recognized as Blue Ribbon schools, meaning they meet excellence standards. Our neighborhood elementary school is less than one mile from our house. Our community is filled with parks and activities for kids and families. There are several parks and a dog park within minutes of our home. Our town has an active parks and recreation department with sports, fairs, and holidays events throughout the year.
We live in a four-bedroom home with a big yard. We can usually be found hanging out in the living room, cooking in the kitchen, or doing yard work outside. We believe our home is our oasis and have done our best to create a relaxing environment. Our neighborhood has many young families and an active homeowners association. Our neighborhood puts together events for families such as a Halloween parade, Christmas caroling, and ice cream social. Our neighbors are friendly and do a great job of helping each other.
Our Extended Families
We are both closely connected with family. Our parents and siblings all live within 30 minutes of our home. Victoria has one younger brother. Ryan is the middle child with one older brother and one younger brother. We see our families almost every weekend, and Victoria's family and Ryan's family like spending time together. Victoria's mom and Ryan's mom like to go antique shopping together. Victoria's family has roots in New Orleans. They often cook traditional New Orleans foods like gumbo and seafood boil. Ryan's family likes to try new restaurants and is known for their competitive Uno and Skip-Bo games. We look forward to sharing our family's diverse cultures with our child.
Our families are thrilled we are choosing adoption. Adoption is already a big part of our story. Ryan's mother was adopted from South Korea by a family living in the United States. Victoria's great grandfather was also adopted. Ryan and Victoria's parents can't wait to welcome their first grandchild. Everyone in our life is glad we are adopting.
From Us to You
Thank you for taking the time to view our profile. We know you might be feeling a lot of different emotions right now. We have been praying for you and think about you every day. Adoption is an act of love. We marvel at your strength and courage to pursue an adoption plan. We know firsthand how it feels when life does not turn out how you expected. However, we also know God ultimately has a great plan for all of us and we thank God for you.
This child will be welcomed into a home of love. We have also been praying for this child and have been preparing our home to start our new family. For the last five years, we have been able to build a strong foundation for our marriage and believe now is the best time for us to start our family. Our child will be the first grandchild of both Ryan's and Victoria's parents. This child will be loved not only by us and our family but also by a close-knit community of friends. The people we love will surround our family with a lot of love, generosity, and compassion. We both love spending time with children. Ryan works as a Special Education Coordinator, helping children with special needs reach their full potential. Victoria is a Kindergarten Teacher who enjoys seeing children learn and grow. We have the tools to build a loving and nurturing environment for a child.
We believe life is about building memories. Family vacations and family traditions are important to us. Every summer we plan a week-long trip somewhere special. We like to explore places we have never been, creating new memories in these locations. We love to immerse ourselves in the local food and culture. We have visited Hong Kong, New Orleans, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Puerto Vallarta, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Colorado, and the list is just beginning. We are excited to explore new places with our child.
We also can't wait to share new memories with our child through family traditions. Celebrating holidays is important to us. We have special traditions around Christmas and Halloween and also celebrate cultural holidays like Chinese New Year and Mardi Gras. We'll also make new memories by involving our child in our hobbies. Victoria loves to craft and bake. She makes special cards and t-shirts with her Cricut machine and loves to bake weekly desserts. Ryan loves to cook and work in the yard. Ryan cooks many different cuisines. This is something that allows him to share his culture with others and explore new cultures. Ryan also enjoys doing household projects, especially outside. We take pride in our home and making it look nice. We both love to spend time with our families and spend almost every weekend with our family. We love playing games together. We also enjoy spending time with our dog, Sophie. She is a sweet and playful dog who likes her daily walks.
We hope you feel a sense of peace after looking through our profile, knowing this child will grow up loved and nurtured. They will grow up knowing about their adoption story because it is very important. We promise to stay in communication with you and promise this child will always know how wonderful you are.
All our love,
Ryan & Victoria
