Jason & Philip
We believe adoption is a special opportunity to welcome a child into our family and provide them with a safe and love-filled home. We are so grateful you are taking the time to consider our profile. We are both excited about becoming parents and can't wait to welcome a child into our home and to share all of our love and support. We would be honored to be chosen to be your child's parents.
Jason loves being outdoors and spending time admiring nature. Growing up on a farm, he spent a lot of time outside around animals and walking through his family's fields and woods. During many summers his family traveled to Wyoming, where his mom was raised, and visited Yellowstone National Park to see the mountains, geysers, waterfalls, buffalo, and other natural wonders. He has a love of camping and hiking and wherever he goes he tries to find interesting trails and parks to explore. He also enjoys taking care of the yard at home, adding new plants each season and growing tomatoes, peppers, basil and other vegetables and herbs.
Philip is what you might call a sports fanatic - especially when it comes to the University of Arizona Wildcats. In college, he worked in the University of Arizona's athletics department helping out with media relations and event management for many of the school's sports teams. Now out of college, he tries to catch as many games on television as he can. Philip is also an avid runner, having completed five marathons and loves exploring the nearby running trails. He is very excited about purchasing a running stroller to bring his child along on his running adventures around the neighborhood.
What It Means to Become Parents
We know that becoming parents will be one of the most challenging and most rewarding things we will do in our lives. Choosing to become parents is an incredibly important decision, and we appreciate the responsibility we're taking on to care for and nurture a child in our home. We both have so much love and laughter to share and can't wait to do that with our child.
We will be there to guide and support our child as they experience all of the challenges and joys of childhood. We are most looking forward to introducing our child to so many of life's experiences and helping them find whatever it is they will be passionate about. Whether it's sports, art, music, or any other number of hobbies or activities, we are excited to help our child explore them. We will be their biggest cheerleaders in life.
We also look forward to bringing our child into our extended family. We know what joy our child will bring to our parents, who will be grandparents; our sisters, who will be aunts; and our nephews, who will be cousins. As a family we know we will support and strengthen each other.
Fun Facts About Us:
Our House and Neighborhood
We live in northern Virginia, just outside of Washington, D.C. Our home is located in a very friendly and active neighborhood with lots of families and school-aged children. There is an active neighborhood association that hosts fun family-friendly events around Independence Day, Halloween, Back to School, Graduation, and other holidays. Aside from being within walking distance to a hospital, library, fire and police department, we also have access to some of the finest schools in the area. There are also two nearby parks with playgrounds, several community centers with swimming pools, and numerous biking and running trails.
Our home has three bedrooms and two bathrooms on the main floor in addition to a cozy living room, dining room, and kitchen. We also have a finished basement where we enjoy movie nights and snuggling our puppies near the fireplace. We have a big enclosed grassy backyard with trees and flowers that provide a perfect place to run and play.
Our Extended Families
Spending time with our families is important to both of us. Jason's parents live in Missouri on the farm where he grew up. We usually spend Thanksgiving with them and Jason's sister. Philip's parents, sister and her family live in Arizona, and we typically travel there to celebrate Christmas every year. We also make a point to see our families at least a few more times each year for birthdays, anniversaries, or just to spend a few days catching up.
When we travel to Arizona we spend a lot of time with our three nephews. We'll play catch, go swimming, or take a hike. At Christmas, they love to help with the cooking and always seem to be close by when Jason makes his famous cinnamon rolls.
When we go to Missouri we spend a lot of time on the farm with Jason's parents. The farm is very quiet and the perfect place to relax for a few days. We love taking walks through the fields, going for a drive down to the lake, and just enjoying the wide open spaces.
From Us to You
Thank you for considering adoption for your child and for taking the time to review our profile. We are incredibly excited about becoming parents and cannot wait to welcome a child into our loving home. We’ve always known we wanted to have kids one day, and adoption always felt like the right path to grow our family.
A little about us - we have been married for nearly three years now, but we’ve been together since we met in 2008. We met in Denver, Colorado and have also lived in Washington, D.C., New Mexico, and now Virginia. We have worked hard on our relationship over the years, and we have developed a strong partnership based on love and commitment.
We both come from very loving and supportive families who are also thrilled about bringing a new baby into our lives. Jason’s parents are in Missouri, and his sister lives in New Mexico. Philip’s parents, sister, brother-in-law, and three nephews all live in Arizona. There will be no shortage of people to love and care for the child we bring home.
Becoming parents is going to be one of the most rewarding - while sometimes challenging - things we will ever do in our lives. We are both so excited to introduce our child to life’s wonders and meaningful experiences. We will be our child’s biggest cheerleaders as they develop their passions - whether that be in sports, music, art, or any number of activities and hobbies. We are both pretty active and love to get outside for a walk around the neighborhood, a run on some of the local trails, and occasionally venture out for hiking and camping trips. We plan to bring our little one along for all of these adventures.
One of the reasons we knew that now was the right time to grow our family is that we both have stable and flexible jobs that will allow us to spend lots of quality time with a child. Between generous parental leave time and flexible work schedules, we will be present for nearly all of those important moments in a child’s formative years.
We want to ensure our child grows up with a strong foundation, including knowing their personal background and where they come from. We plan to raise a strong and confident child, and that includes helping them understand their adoption story and who their first family is. Early on, we plan to make the concept of adoption something that is natural and to make our child feel special about the circumstances by which they came to be a part of our family. As they get older, we plan to share more specific details so they never feel like we are keeping a secret or that adoption is something they should be ashamed of. We plan to be open and honest with our child from birth and want to ensure they know they can always talk with us about adoption and their personal story.
We also want our child to grow up knowing their biological roots and hope they can develop a relationship with their birth parents. We hope to be able to share special moments from our child’s life with their birth parents through text messages and emails, phone calls, and occasional visits. We look forward to working with our child’s birth parents to determine what is best for everyone.
We view adoption as a precious gift and are so excited about bringing a baby into our home. Thank you so much for taking the time to view our profile.
