Why We Chose Adoption

Drive-In Movie Shenanigans

We have always viewed adoption as a huge privilege. A beautiful selfless gift we knew we had to be mentally, emotionally and financially secure enough for, and to believe we were deserving of. In the beginning of our marriage, we were lucky to become pregnant early on, but after having our second child, we realized that growing our family might be out of the question. Both pregnancies and deliveries involved medical complications and were pretty traumatic. Though once adoption reached our minds, it just clicked, and we knew that this is how we are meant to grow our family.

Enjoying a Park in Arizona

Adopting a child is something Amber has wanted to do since she was a child, and is so thankful that everything in our lives has brought us to this point where we can make this dream a reality. We are so excited to bring this child home to share in our love, be able to embrace their big brothers and complete our family in all the ways we know deep down is meant to be.

Our family's lifestyle is to take advantage of any opportunity to have fun! Pennsylvania is such a great place to live because of the dramatic change in seasons. It's super rainy here, so we're either covered in rain gear, splashing in puddles and looking for frogs, or we're inside doing so many different things. From pulling out all of the crafts, reading a handful of books, working on puzzles, building Legos, to building sand castles in our sensory box.

In the winter you can find us building snowmen, following bunny tracks in the snow, or battling in a snow ball fight. In the summer you can find us creating sidewalk chalk masterpieces, squirting each other with squirt guns in the backyard, playing at a neighborhood splash pad, or swinging in a hammock while camping. Our hobbies definitely shape our lifestyle and offer our kids a chance to learn new things. Ryan loves to take our oldest son out fishing, and both boys help him water our vegetable garden. He also brings our kids in the kitchen to help bake his next tasty treat. Amber loves when the boys join her in morning yoga (which ends up turning into mama jungle gym), or when they throw on aprons to dive into some messy abstract painting. No matter what we're doing, we always make sure to be ridiculously silly, always make time to relax, and just appreciate the moment. We can't wait to welcome our third child into our world!

Our Children

We have two sons, who are six and four years old. They are amazing in every way, and couldn't be more different from one another! Our oldest is our curious little professor, who is determined to be a scientist, so he always has a million questions about everything. He is very nurturing and tries to help his younger brother whenever he sees he's struggling with something.

Our second child is incredible at making anyone roll on the floor with laughter. He is so creative and loving, very independent, and is always dancing and singing around the house. We are so proud of them, and can't wait to complete our family with a third child! Our second son has never felt like our youngest, he has always felt like our middle child, and with all the questions and begging from our kids to have another sibling, we know bringing in another child into our home is meant to be, and we couldn't be more excited.

Our Extended Families

Our Arizona Family

Our extended family is a huge part of our lives, and we make every effort to remain close and visit them as much as we can. Both of our families live out of state, so we do a lot of traveling. Ryan’s family is in New Jersey and Amber’s family is in Arizona, so it’s fun having such different places to visit every year.

Ryan and His Siblings with Their Kids

Ryan has two sisters, who have kids around the same age as our sons, so it’s always a blast playing in the snow, jumping in waves at the beach, or playing Bingo at Nonna’s and Papa’s house. Ryan’s mom is a 6 hour drive away, and she visits all of the time to make sure she is a big part of her grandsons’ lives, and she is beyond eager for another grandkid to spoil!

Amber has a large blended family, and loves the time that all six siblings can get together. They love to go hiking in the Arizona mountains, swimming at the pool, and eating tamales at every holiday (Amber can’t live without!). Amber’s brother lives 6 hours away, so often comes to visit, which our sons love “fun uncle” time! We love hosting extended family during Thanksgiving time, since Ryan loves to cook for others, and our family never misses a chance to inhale his delicious food. Amber’s Step-mom and brother-in-law were both adopted, and they are thrilled to hear the family will be growing through adoption.

Our House and Neighborhood

Home Sweet Home

Pennsylvania - We live just 30 minutes north of a major city, and live in a very family friendly town. The first time we visited, we both, almost simultaneously go, “We have to live here!”. We have a two-story 4 bedroom house with a fenced backyard, and it is walking distance to almost everything. From going to the library, to the community pool, to a handful of awesome playgrounds, this is a family’s dream spot. Our boys love taking a trip to the local bakery and ice cream shop, and we know their little sibling will too. A lot of our neighbors are retired, so naturally they have happily taken on a grandparent role. The boys love chatting with our neighbors and getting little surprises on our doorstep from them.

Our town is also really close to a large state park that has lots of trails, fishing spots and creeks to explore. What we didn’t realize when moving here three years ago, was that our town is known for having SO many annual events. All of the county parades go through our town, we have a Light Up Festival with Santa Claus, a yard-sale day with everyone walking and mingling outside, several Easter egg hunts, fire station fundraiser with a bounce house for the kids, and probably way more we haven’t even discovered. It’s amazing living somewhere that is part of a strong community, is safe, that encourages an active lifestyle, and is full of kids playing on every block.

From Us to You

As we sit here, staring at our computer, wondering if we have the right words to capture what we want to say, we find ourselves filled with immense gratitude. Thank you so much for taking the time to read our letter to you today. We think about what it must be like for you on the other side of this letter. To be searching through all these families, wondering if this is the right decision, and wondering if you could possibly find the perfect family that fits all of your dreams for this child.

We hope that in taking a glimpse into our lives through our profile, and reading this letter, that you will know that you found us. That you found the family that you envision for this child. A family who you know will embrace this child with the same love and devotion as their other children, and will foster their culture, spirituality and curiosity every day. A family who will make sure this child knows how much love and courage it took for you to make this decision for them.

Bringing another child into our home is not a decision we take lightly. We have been married nearly 8 years, raising two young children, so we know the sacrifices you have to make for a child. We recognize that this choice you’re making is the ultimate selfless act, and we will respect your wishes throughout this adoption journey. Everyone’s situation and reasons are different for pursuing adoption, so we are prepared to listen and offer reassurance wherever we can.

We are committed to send letters, pictures, emails, and do video chats too. We want you to have the choice to become an extension of our family, to have the opportunity to watch them grow, and to witness and be apart of the love that is sure to shower this little person.

This child will have a life full of playdates at the park, adventures in camping and hiking, traveling explorations in different cities, and wild dance-offs with their brothers. We will go to a variety of festivals to explore and learn about different countries and cultures. We will sign them up for different sports, dance, and music classes, so they can find their inspiration and embrace their talents.

We will make sure they are well connected to their heritage, so they know where they come from, and feel empowered and excited by the things that add to their beautiful self. Whether you choose to hear about their new experiences and milestones throughout their childhood, or decide to take comfort in your choice from afar, this child will know that your decision for adoption was an act of selfless love and intentional care for their future.

We wish we could find all of the words to describe how full our hearts are at your consideration of this child joining our family. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for reading this letter. We hope it brings you comfort and may it be the start of an incredible heartfelt journey. A journey where you feel heard and respected, and where you know that we will raise this child in a home that honors your decision every day.
