Chase & Abbie
Thank you for taking the time to read our profile! We are excited to have the opportunity to connect with you. We consider parenting the greatest responsibility anyone could have and we have a lot of love to share! We look forward to providing a warm home full of happiness, encouragement and guidance. We can't wait to teach our future child to enjoy and experience all life has to offer.
Adoption in Our Lives
Chase's parents adopted him as an infant in 1991. They were very open with him about his adoption story and never hesitated to provide him with information or answer questions. Unfortunately, when Chase was adopted in 1991, most adoptions were closed. Other than an anonymous biography, he does not have any family information. Chase is very thankful to have been adopted by two of the greatest people on earth and that we can confidently say, "It was meant to be."
As we look forward to our own adoption journey, we are happy that adoptions have since become more open. We look forward to being able to provide our child with information about their biological relatives should they have any questions. We also believe that Chase will have a unique role in helping our child understand adoption by being able to relate on a very personal level. We plan on making a picture book of our adoption process from the moment we started our journey all the way through the day our child comes home. We hope that this will give our child a clear picture of God's plan to bring them into our lives.
Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other
Chase About Abbie: Abbie is my hero. She is loyal, kind and has a servant's heart. She has dedicated her life to making our community a better place through her work. She has climbed some of the steepest mountains, including beating childhood cancer. Abbie is a warrior and never gives up on her dreams. Her passion for life is contagious. It is what drew me to her when we first met, and it is what makes me love her more every day. Abbie is a natural with kids. Her ability to have fun and command respect at the same time are a gift from God. I most frequently see Abbie interact with our niece and nephew who both adore her. Anytime she walks into the room, kids gravitate towards her. On a professional level, Abbie is dedicated to working with adolescent and young adult cancer patients. I cannot wait to be by Abbie's side through parenthood.
Abbie About Chase: I am so excited to see Chase as a father, coach, and mentor. He is considered the peacemaker of our family. He always wants things to go smoothly and has a calm, supportive demeanor and unbreakable trust. What initially drew me to Chase was his charm and outgoing personality. Now that we have been married for over 5 years, I can see that he is all of those things and more. He is hardworking, patient, empathetic, affectionate, supportive, and committed to doing the best he can for his family. Chase is very engaged and active with children. They are drawn to his relaxed nature and enjoy being around him. He will be a wonderful Dad!!
What It Means to Become Parents
Our goal as parents is to raise a child in a home filled with love. We want to support and encourage our child to grow into the best person they can be. We will raise them to understand diversity and inclusion. We will encourage them to work hard in school and to enjoy life. We look forward to taking family trips and traveling as much as possible. We also look forward to introducing our child to sports, arts, music, and the outdoors. We hope to expose them to as many activities as possible over the years to help them find their passion. They will have our undying love and support in whatever they choose to do. We want to continue to grow as parents to give our child the best life possible while leading by example and instilling strong values.
Our House and Neighborhood
We live in a white, brick, 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom ranch-style house on a half of an acre lot. Our future child will have their own bedroom and full bathroom. Our backyard is made up of beautiful dogwood trees and green grass. Our home is in a well established, family neighborhood within walking distance of our local elementary school, churches, and parks. We enjoy being outside on our back deck, playing with our dogs, cooking out, and having bonfires. Our neighborhood is quiet, but conveniently close to the downtown area where both Chase and Abbie work. We have great neighbors and many other children live on our street.
Our home is in an excellent school district. Around us we have access to several lakes to go fishing, places to ride bikes and go hiking. There is a YMCA minutes from our house that provides access to youth sports, camps, and activities. Our community has a children's science center and learning museum and we are only an hour away from the zoo! We love our home and are very excited to one day raise a child in our community!
Our Extended Families
Family is very important to us. We are blessed to have strong and close relationships with both our immediate and extended families.
Both of our parents live less than 15 minutes away and so we are together on a regular basis. They are ecstatic to become a part of our child's life, and to spoil them with lots of love, hugs, and kisses.
Abbie's brother and sister live an hour away along with our 3-year-old niece and 5-year-old nephew.
Chase is an only child and has an aunt, uncle and cousin that live an hour away.
The family beach trip is always the highlight of our year. We love to spend the week fishing on our boat, playing games on the beach, cooking fresh seafood and relaxing with a good book! We look forward to sharing the fun with our child!
Holidays are very special because we cherish spending time with extended family. Abbie's family has held holiday traditions the same way for much of her life. Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are typically celebrated at grandparents' houses with lots of food, love and family time. Now that we are married, we alternate holidays with our families and plan to continue these traditions with our child.
From Us to You
Thank you for taking the time to read our letter. First, we want you to know that no matter what happens, whether you choose adoption or not, we are praying for you and your baby. We understand that this is a nearly impossible decision, and we pray that God brings you love, comfort, and guidance through this process. We admire you for your courage and strength that have led you to consider making a plan for adoption.
Chase's adoptive mother and father were always open with him about his adoption. As long as he can remember, he has loved hearing the story they tell of driving to Georgia to pick him up! They continue to love him unconditionally, support him, and have guided him to this point today. Chase's mom and dad are now wonderful role models for us as we go through this journey together. We can assure you that if you choose us, your son or daughter will receive the same unconditional love and support and will have an adoptive mother and father who will provide him or her with every resource we can to help them grow into the best human being they can be. Like Chase's parents, we plan to be open about the adoption process. We will make sure that your child knows how much you love them, and how hard this decision was for you. You will always be reflected positively to them. To this day, Chase still has the profile that his biological mother wrote. Like Chase, She loves college football, sports and the great outdoors. As you likely read in our profile, Abbie is a childhood cancer survivor and is unable to have biological children due to the treatment she received. When Abbie was 24 years old, she found out that she could not conceive. Although this was difficult to process, we both knew that God had a plan for us to adopt.
We live in North Carolina where we are fortunate to be surrounded by beautiful mountains and tranquil oceans. We have been together for over eleven years and have been married for over five years. Abbie is a lifelong resident of North Carolina and Chase has lived here since his adoption. All of our immediate family lives in North Carolina and is excited to shower our future baby with love and support.
We would absolutely be willing to send photos and letters to update you on milestones. Further we would be willing to exchange email addresses and phone numbers and to meet in person if you would like to. We will do our best to accommodate all of your wishes. Words cannot describe how much it would mean to raise and be parents to your child and to connect with you. We consider adoption to be a true miracle. We have seen firsthand the blessing adoption has been for Chase's mother and father who now say, "Looking back, I am so thankful we were not able to conceive children because it led us to you (Chase)." We hope you find comfort in knowing that if you choose us, your son or daughter will be raised in a family full of love, encouragement and happiness, and a family that is strong in faith, and values.
