Our Children

Audrey and Calire

We have two daughters who are about two years apart in age: Audrey (born in 2017) and Claire (born in 2019). Audrey is our sweet, happy, loving girl. She is full of questions and always looking for something new to learn. To her great excitement, she just started kindergarten and she's loving it. Audrey has a tender heart and can't stand to see anyone hurting. When we ask Audrey if she wants a new baby brother or sister, she excitedly says, "I want a new brother AAAND a sister!" She can't wait to show the baby all her books, take the baby to the zoo, play superheroes, and sing all her favorite songs. Every night before bed, Audrey prays for her "new baby brother or sister." Audrey is excited to be a big sister again!

Claire, or Claire-bear as we call her, is our second beautiful daughter. She is playful, mischievous, and has the cutest giggle. Claire has already figured out how to play jokes on Audrey, which is one thing that brings out that giggle! She is tenacious and will try again and again until she succeeds. Claire has a big imagination and alternates between being a princess, a puppy, a "bad guy," a cowgirl, or some combination of those. She's a fun little sister, and we know she will be a great big sister too!

How Adoption has Affected Us

We both have family and friends whose lives have been touched by adoption. While Bryce was a teenager, his Bible study leaders sold their business so they could adopt eight children from Latvia. Bryce was able to see very closely everything they went through to grow their family. Welcoming children of various ages from a different culture into their family has been anything but easy, but they love those children and give them what they need now while helping them honor their heritage.

Tiffany's aunt is a birth mom who placed her daughter for adoption. Her story has been a great influence on our decision to pursue open adoption specifically. Tiffany's aunt chose to have a closed adoption, which also caused grief for the rest of her family. They knew adoption was the best choice for the baby, but they still wanted the comfort of knowing the baby was loved and of having an open relationship with her. Fortunately, that openness did eventually come with the blessing of all involved. It is clear that open adoption would have been the right choice from the start.

Our Family Traditions

Gingerbread House

We love having family traditions and celebrating holidays, birthdays, and special occasions. We even regularly celebrate "ordinary" days by having surprise movie nights, complete with popcorn and peanut M&Ms, or by having one-day vacations at the beach. About 3 weeks before any special day, we start a countdown and have fun watching the day get closer and closer. For birthdays, we always wake up the birthday person with balloons and singing "Happy Birthday!" Then we have a party with whatever meal and dessert the birthday person chooses. Around Easter, we decorate the house with bright colors, dye eggs in lots of crazy ways, and attend our church's annual Easter events.

Our favorite holidays are Thanksgiving and Christmas. We decorate the house for Christmas at the beginning of November so we can enjoy the decorations longer. Then on Thanksgiving, Bryce spends all day smoking a turkey, Tiffany makes her grandmother's cornbread dressing and her mom's sweet potato casserole, and we share the meal with a huge group of family and friends. During the rest of the Christmas season, we make an elaborate gingerbread house, pack Christmas gift boxes to send to children around the world, pick out or make new ornaments for the tree, and marvel at Christmas light displays. On Christmas morning, we read the Christmas story and have a big breakfast before we share gifts with each other. As special days come and go, we are reminded that life is precious and that every day is worth celebrating!

Our House and Neighborhood

Home Sweet Home

We live in California. We love our neighborhood. We are a short walk from a few different parks, open fields, and our neighborhood pool. Our children love all the different trees, plants, rocks, and bugs they can find while we're out walking. The families in our neighborhood are mostly young families from many different backgrounds, so there are always lots of new friends around to play with. A few times a year, the community holds neighborhood gatherings with lots of good food, crafts for the kids, games, and bounce houses. Our home is a townhome on a quiet street. We have three big bedrooms and bathrooms. We spend a lot of time in the kitchen making and eating tasty meals, or doing school and other fun activities at the kitchen table. Audrey and Claire love to play in our living room or cuddle up with us on the couch to read their favorite books or eat popcorn while watching a favorite movie. We enjoy our city for its wonderful cultural diversity, family-friendly activities, and beautiful places for outdoor fun. On free days, we can choose from the zoo, parks, museums, the beach, the lake, bicycling, or hiking. Our welcoming church is a short drive away from our house. There we are part of children's activities, community outreach, and a weekly pre-school/kindergarten group. We love our church and they have all been so excited and supportive of us on this adoption journey.

Our Extended Families

Tiffany's Parents

Our families live across the United States. Despite the distance, we have close relationships with our families. Tiffany's parents, brother and sister-in-law, and other extended family live in Florida. It's fun to visit there in the spring or fall when the weather is perfect and there are plenty of parks and beaches to enjoy. Tiffany's grandmother and aunt live in a home in the mountains. Growing up, Tiffany and her family spent many Christmases hoping for snow on Christmas morning and many summers picking fresh fruits and veggies from the garden.

Bryce's Parents

Bryce's parents live in Oklahoma. When we visit them, Audrey and Claire spend most of their time jumping in the pool or running to the neighbor's house to see the cows and ponies. Independence Day is always a treat at their house because the town's huge firework show takes place right across the street. They throw a big party with a ton of delicious food, and we all get a front-row seat for the show.

From the very start, our whole family has been totally supportive of our adoption plan. Our parents are helpful and involved grandparents, and they can't wait to have another grandchild to love!

From Us to You

Thank you for reading through our profile and letting us share a little of our life with you. We know you have some tough choices ahead of you, and we pray God gives you the wisdom and courage you need to make the right decisions for you and your baby.

We met in 2013 when Bryce moved to Florida, where Tiffany lived, for flight training. We were married in 2014 and immediately moved cross-country from Florida to Washington state. Bryce is a pilot in the Navy, so getting to live in and explore new places is a big part of our life. Each place we have lived has brought a variety of adventures, sweet memories, and life-long friends. Tiffany is a teacher, but after getting married and having babies, she chose to be a stay-at-home mom to our daughters, Audrey and Claire. Audrey recently started kindergarten, and Tiffany is getting to teach her at home, which has been a great experience thus far. We love the flexibility it gives us in our schedule and the freedom to personalize our child's education.

Before we met each other, we both knew that we wanted to adopt children someday. After we started dating, finding we shared that desire in common was one confirmation that we were meant for each other. We both have family and friends whose lives have been touched by adoption. While Bryce was a teenager, his Bible study leaders adopted eight children from Latvia. He had a front-row seat for the joys and challenges they faced. Tiffany's aunt is a birth mom who placed her daughter for adoption. Her story has been a huge influence in our decision to pursue open adoption specifically.

After getting married, we were blessed with our daughter Audrey, followed a couple years later by our daughter Claire. The pregnancies and deliveries were difficult, and Tiffany has a condition that did put our children's development and deliveries at risk. About a year after Claire was born, we were sitting in church, and our pastor started talking about adoption. We felt like it was God using him to talk directly to us. Knowing the physical risks of another pregnancy, knowing we are ready to grow our family, and knowing that adoption is meant to be part of our story, we prayed and decided the time is right to pursue adoption. Our whole family is excited about welcoming another baby into our home.

In our home, we are committed to giving all our children, including your baby, a nurturing, secure, and enriching home where they know they are loved unconditionally. As parents, we want to let them fully experience childhood while also preparing them for each new stage of life so that they will someday become kind and responsible adults. We want to give them a strong foundation of faith in God's plan that will anchor and carry them through life. Our goal isn't to fill their lives with things like the latest toys or the most expensive clothes, but to fill their lives with experiences and opportunities to learn and grow.

Your baby will be cherished every moment of our lives, and we will keep you updated with pictures and letters about stories and milestones by mail, e-mail, or text - whichever you're most comfortable with. When you are ready, we are also open to planning visits with each other. You will always be honored in our family for the selfless and brave choice you are making. What you are doing requires a strength we cannot imagine, and we pray for you daily to find the love and support you need. We do hope you know how loved you are. Thank you again for considering our family and letting us share our story with you.
