Josh & Betsy
We have spent 18 years together preparing for the moment when we would be blessed with a child. We are grateful you are reading our profile and considering us. We believe in fate and are certain that if you choose us to be your child's parents, it is meant to be! Thank you for your selfless decision, our hearts and lives are so full of love we cannot wait to share it.
What It Means to Become Parents
As parents, it is our job to provide a loving, stable and supportive environment for a child to thrive in. We look at parenting as taking all the life experiences that have shaped us, both the good and bad, and passing those lessons on so a child is able to navigate this complex world successfully. Most importantly, we hope to teach them to live with both eyes wide open, enjoying every moment and experiencing all the wonders life has to offer. We cannot wait to instill in a child the morals and values we were raised with. First and most importantly- Family is everything! We are both extremely close to our families and believe they are the foundation of a happy childhood and life. We are grateful to be able to share the relationships we cherish in our lives with a child, so they are able to experience what a close-knit family dynamic is and what an amazing built-in support system they will have. We also believe it is important as a parent to uncover and nurture whatever passions or interests a child has, and to support them in living an authentic life based around the things that bring them joy.
Our Life Priorities
We both own our own businesses that we work hard to nurture and grow. Work is not a priority for us, but our financial freedom is. We are grateful our jobs support us and at the same time allow us to prioritize spending time on the things that really matter to us; family, our passions and each other. Spending time with family is and always will be a top priority for us. We plan several trips a year to see our family on the east coast, and also have visitors out to see us regularly. Any chance we get to nurture the bonds we have with those closest to us, we take it. It is also a priority for us each to spend time doing the things that make us individually happy. For Josh that is hunting and fishing and anything outdoors. Nature is his sanctuary. Betsy prioritizes working with a local dog rescue, spending time weekly with the dogs in the shelter and organizing fundraising events. We also, most importantly, prioritize each other and our marriage. We are best friends and do everything from food shopping, errands, house projects and working out together. We strive to live a very balanced life- we work hard and play hard equally and set our lives up this way so we have the free time to enjoy the life we have built together.
Our Individual Strengths
We consider ourselves the perfect yin and yang. Josh's strengths are Betsy's weaknesses, and vice versa. We believe this is what has built the solid foundation for our partnership. Josh is a hands-on learner; he is able to fix, build, and problem-solve everything mechanical and home-improvement related. He will open a piece of furniture that needs assembly and throw the directions away! We have yet to run into a project that he was not able to tackle on his own. Betsy on the other hand, is more analytical- she would take those same furniture assembly instructions and read them line for line, studying each photo intently and probably take notes on how it should be put together. She loves organization and is great at running the finance and marketing for both of their businesses. From an emotional standpoint, Josh is very rational and calm. He is the best at coming up with logical solutions to any problem. Betsy is very empathic and can make anyone feel comfortable. She is someone who people will come to for advice and support because she is a natural people person. Our strengths as individuals perfectly complement each other and we make the best team.
Our House and Neighborhood
We are blessed that we were able to build our dream home in one of the most beautiful places in the country, Arizona. We have gorgeous mountain views from our home and are just a short 2.5 hour drive to Northern Arizona where there are pine trees and snow in the winter. We are also just 4 hours to California or Mexico for the beach. Our home has a modern vibe with an open concept floorplan, complete with 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and an in-ground pool that we spend a lot of time in during the hot Arizona summers.
We chose the community we live in because it is ranked one of the top master-planned communities not only in Arizona but in the entire country. A master-planned community is developed for families and residents to experience a true community feel; we have parks anchoring each street, a community center and pool full of arcade games and weekly clubs/activities, a great park that hosts monthly concerts, a fishing pond, biking trails, multiple schools in walking distance, a farm for fresh veggies/fruit and countless planned events for families to attend. It is the perfect place to raise a family. That is why we chose to live here!
Our neighbors have become some of our best friends. We love to entertain and have them over to swim or BBQ . We cannot wait to share our amazing community with a child of our own!
Our Extended Families
We decided to move to Arizona 6 years ago to start fresh and establish an overall better quality of life for our future family. Betsy's identical twin sister, Shelly, moved to Arizona a year prior to us and we currently live 5 houses away from her. The three of us are together daily, whether it be a dog play date or family dinner most evenings followed by catching up on our favorite TV shows. We have met friends in Arizona whom we now consider family, and enjoy hosting BBQ's, pool days, and game nights at our home with them and their families. Both sets of our parents are now retired and are planning on moving out to be near us in the coming year. When we realized that a biological child was not in the cards for us, it was a natural decision for us to pursue adoption. Josh was raised by his step-father, Frank, and Betsy by her step-father, Vic. Though neither are our blood, they both are our Dads and made us who we are today. Our families are ecstatic about our decision to adopt and can not wait for us to add a child to the amazing life we have built together.
From Us to You
Words can never embody the depth of emotions that the adoption process brings forth. We have run through the gamut of feelings; from joy and excitement to anxiousness and uncertainty. We can only imagine how difficult of a process this is for you, and although we do not know each other (yet), we can connect on some level because we are all going through this together. The decision to consider adoption for your child is one of the most selfless acts you can make, and we would love to support you through this journey as best we can and however much you feel comfortable with. There is something so unique and special about the bond we may all share; we believe it should be nurtured and cherished from day 1.
We hope that our profiles give you a glimpse into the loving, stable and happy life we have built together from the ground up. We met 18 years ago at a bar (very romantic!) Josh worked a second job as a bouncer at a college bar and Betsy worked there as a bartender during her years in college. She pursued him via a coworker and after a Friday night shift they met at a diner at 3 a.m. and the rest is history. We have grown up together, navigating how to personally and professionally mature and grow as individuals while still nurturing our marriage and relationship. The vow we made to each other when we were married in 2008 is one that we both take very seriously and the commitment to focus on our marriage and relationship is something we work on daily. Life is not easy and the longer you are alive the more curve balls you are thrown; we have been through a lot together but our loyalty to each other is unwavering. We both share a deep-rooted value for family and our close relationships to our parents and siblings is what we put at the forefront of our lives. Our families are ecstatic that we are looking to grow our own family and their support makes this process so much easier to navigate because we have a tribe of people behind us. Betsy's parents are moving within 20 minutes of us and her twin sister lives 5 houses away and we spend time together daily. There is never the perfect time for anything in life, but we feel we have reached a pinnacle in ours where we are completely settled and bringing a child into our world would be the biggest blessing.
We are equals in our marriage; we both run our own businesses but also cook, clean, and do the laundry. We are the perfect team. We plan to raise a child who is also independent, self-assured and secure in the fact that he/she is capable of achieving whatever their heart desires (with hard work and discipline of course). We believe it is important to nurture a child's individual passions and support what makes them happy, whether it be sports, music, art or anything else they feel zealous about. Most importantly, we plan to raise a child who is full of compassion and empathy for others (including animals). Giving back to the community is a major part of our lives and we feel it is the greatest way to teach a child about life and what is important.
We cannot wait to share this unique story and fateful meeting between us and you with a child. They will know from an early age where they came from, how much you love them and how lucky they are to have so much support. We will send letters and photos and hope that we can also email, text and set up future meetings with you so we can nurture this special relationship. We believe we are all connected in some way as human beings and nothing happens by coincidence. Maybe our road stops here with this letter or maybe our paths were meant to cross and we start this new chapter together. Either way we are grateful for you reading this and we send you love and the best wishes on your journey.
