Nick & Kourtney

Being parents has always been our prized aspiration as a couple. After years of infertility treatments, losses and our stillborn daughter, we believe the path God chose for us to grow our family is through adoption. We believe we are meant to be parents to a special child when the fullness of time has come.

Our Lifestyle

Visiting Monument Valley

We strongly believe in the benefits of nature, fresh air, and the outdoors for mental health. Most weekends in the summer you can find us at the lake enjoying our pontoon boat: tubing, water skiing, and swimming with the dogs. We are members of a golf resort which provides us with year round activities and a community of friends, some of which we now call family. We are intertwined with our community and equally love spending time at home. We love our home because we are surrounded by nature. Our property borders a migratory bird sanctuary and we have a number of different species of ducks that make our pond their home. We spend a lot of our time at home in our garden, fishing for smallmouth bass with our nephew or enjoying a night around a fire with friends. Our home is the gathering spot for family and friends. We are often the host of bonfires, BBQs, or summer outdoor movie nights and we cherish this time with our loved ones.

Our Promise to You

At a Friend's Summer Wedding

If you were to choose adoption for your baby and choose us as your child's parents, we promise to live our lives remembering how blessed and fortunate we are to have been chosen to be their parents and let this gratitude show each and every day in the care and nurture we give to your child.

We promise to treat them with so much love, warmth, kindness, and respect that they won't ever believe they are worthy of anything less.

We promise to be patient, attentive, and support them in chasing their dreams.

We promise to celebrate life's milestones both big and small.

We promise to support and listen to them, guide and teach them, and love them unconditionally.

We promise their adoption story will be something that they know from the very beginning and speak of it with nothing but adoration and respect.

We promise they will know the immense amount of love you have for them and your desire for them to have a safe, loving, and supportive family.

Our Cultural Heritage

One of the things we love most about each other is how different we both are. When we first started dating we could spend hours listening and learning about each other and trying new things each of us shared. From our families and the foods we grew up eating, to the way we grew up celebrating holidays, we have carried on traditions from both sides of our families. These include making empanadas, loud music and dancing with Nick's family to Kielbasa, stuffed cabbage, and kiffles with Kourtney's.

Nick grew up in a diverse household. His mom is an immigrant from the Dominican Republic with a large family that spans from NY, to Miami, to the Dominican Republic. Nick has a half sister who is Puerto Rican and Dominican and we enjoy many Hispanic traditions with his family. His dad is a third generation Italian with stories of growing up in Brooklyn that entertain us around the dinner table while enjoying homemade spaghetti and meatballs. Kourtney is both German and Polish and brings a more self-sufficient approach to life. Both her parents grew up on farms and her parents have taught her how to garden and preserve her food through canning. Two things we now enjoy together all summer long.

We cannot wait to learn and celebrate your child's heritage, share ours with them and form new traditions that will last a lifetime.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

We live in Northeast Pennsylvania in a small town in the Pocono Mountains. Our home is located an hour and a half from both NYC and Philadelphia. We live on two acres in an 1800's restored farmhouse with 3 bedrooms. Our property makes you feel lost in nature yet we are five minutes outside of town. Our town has a community park with a pool and playground, multiple biking trails, and hosts multiple farmers markets and festivals. The surrounding area provides the perfect mix of small town and outdoor recreation with the Delaware River, multiple lakes, ski resorts, and hiking trails. We both grew up nearby and have a large group of lifelong friends, many of which have babies or young children. We are excited to bring a child home to an environment filled with support, love, and adventure.

Our Extended Families

Easter With Family

We have the greatest support system you can ask for. With family nearby, and a large group of great friends, gatherings at our house happen often. BBQs, bonfires, and outdoor movies are just a few of the things we all love to do. Kourtney's family lives close by. Her mom, sister, and nephew are next door and her brother, dad and stepmom are within 20 minutes. Holidays are often spent with Kourtney's family, whether it's celebrating the 4th of July on the pontoon boat, baking for Christmas with Kourtney's mom, or Thanksgiving at Kourtney's dad's.

Family at Daytona

Nick's brother and nephew live two hours from us, his parents, sister, two nieces and nephew live in Florida. We spend a lot of time in both PA and Florida. One of our yearly family traditions is bringing our RVs to the Daytona 500 in FL laughing, sharing food, playing games, and making memories together.

What makes us unique is our flexibility. We both work remotely for the same company. With our flexible schedules, both of us will be home to raise our child, be present and involved. These are qualities we loved about our parents and childhood and ones we want to replicate.

Our family is so happy about having another child in the family. Our nieces and nephews are so excited to have another cousin. Our niece has already given us a book and stuffed animal she picked out for baby to have when they come home.

From Us to You

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to introduce ourselves. We are Kourtney and Nick. In writing this letter and preparing to grow our family through adoption we have spent precious time thinking about the gravity of the sacrifice you are weighing, and we have the most tender admiration for you for considering adoption. The depth of the privilege of growing our family through adoption will never be lost on us and we would be honored to be part of your adoption journey if you decide that path for you and your baby.

We have been together for 11 years. We met in college and quickly became special to one another. We developed a friendship at first, hiking, golfing, and studying together between classes. We both knew there was a future between us. Our marriage is centered around our respect for each other, our faith, and our passion for living life. We rely on each other to make decisions together, trusting that we can accomplish whatever we set our minds to and that we will be okay as long as we have each other. We truly learned the depth of this when our daughter was stillborn, sleeping with angel wings. Through this heartache, our love grew in ways we never knew possible and for that we are eternally grateful.

Our jobs are very flexible, and we both work from home. This allows us to travel the country in our Airstream and see our family in Florida as often as we want. We have spent years talking about how we can't wait to have a child to share our life with, to take on our adventures, to hike and ride bikes together, to show her or him how to ski, and become completely enamored in whatever interests they have. We have prepared emotionally and financially to bring a child home and we are so excited to devote ourselves to being parents.

As we think of the parents we will be, we think it is important to challenge her or him to stretch their limits and reach for the stars, while also providing a safe, loving, and secure environment to grow. We will provide them with opportunities to practice and build resilience, self-esteem, and self-reliance. Finally, we will celebrate successes and teach them to celebrate their own successes, big and small.

We aspire to have an open adoption with you if that is what you desire. We would be excited to share experiences through visits, phone calls, texts, and email. We will respect your choices while continuing to honor you each day by weaving their adoption story into their life from the beginning. We assure that your child will know the core of all their happiness comes from the immense amount of love you have for them, the selfless sacrifice of adoption, and the magnitude of your decision. This will be paramount in your child's life and be one thing among many that will make him or her a caring, generous, smart, and thoughtful person.

You will always be a treasured person in our lives, and we wish you strength and peace as you navigate this journey.
