What We Do For Fun!

Romer (on the left,) is an avid gardener and the yards are filled with fruits, vegetables, bonsai trees and flowers. Romer says bonsai is a lot like raising children. He provides nutrition, guidance and love and the tree will grow up to be what its meant to be.

Jayson is the fauna to Romer's flora. He takes care of the dogs and cats and chickens and parakeet aviary and the goldfish pond! He loves working with animals and works with the local humane society fostering puppies and kittens. Our house is very popular with our neighbors and their children. They say it's like a petting zoo.

There are day trips to the zoo, aquarium, mountain hikes, playgrounds and the beach. Our children will grow up with a love of animals and a sense of compassion.

Adoption in Our Lives

Another Sunny Day at the Beach!

We recently adopted our two-year-old son, who we've raised since birth. People describe him as happy and calm, and he is always making us laugh with his cute observations. He loves dog walks, splashing around in the neighbor's pool, and cars, cars, cars! He is obsessed with anything that moves, like cars, trains, and airplanes.

He is very active and loves climbing and the slide attached to the nursery bunk bed. He goes to church every Sunday and always yells "Hi!" to everyone as he walks down the aisle. He also knows his manners and says "thank you" and "please," although we are still working on patience. Pax has the makings of a very kind and confident person and we are excited to see him grow into whomever he wants to be!

Our next-door neighbors (who are in our video) have three boys who are two years old and under. Seeing how gentle Pax plays with them we know that he would treasure a little sister or brother, and they will thrive with such a loving big brother.

The Pets

The Dogs Are Not Allowed on the Couch!

Our home is basically a zoo. The dogs are very well trained and can do a bunch of tricks, and the terrier is a great at being a calming therapy dog when Jayson brings home scared foster animals.

Hero, the Samoyed, adopts every kitten she sees and loves children and they love her back! She is so gentle with Pax and lets him sleep on top of her without complaint.

We have a very sweet old lady cat named Shego (from Kim Possible,) a shy kitty named Selina and a rambunctious cuddler named Puffy. (He has long, beautiful hair, so he was easy to name.)

Our aquariums are filled with colorful, fresh-water fish and are very relaxing to watch. Our front yard has a pond filled with goldfish and is a favorite spot for our neighbors (especially the children) to stop and watch them.

Our backyard has a flock of chickens that lay a lot of eggs and are quite goofy. There is nothing funnier than watching a running chicken! And the parakeets are always singing their happy music. It's so beautiful outside, and the California weather is perfect year-round.

Our House and Neighborhood

We Have a Fountain & Goldfish Pond in Our Front Yard!

We live in a beautiful single family 3-bedroom home. We grow our own vegetables and raise a flock of egg producing chickens. We also have two dogs (a big fluffy Samoyed and a Westie Terrier,) three cats, a flock of parakeets in a huge outdoor aviary, a goldfish pond with a fountain, two large aquariums and our house is always filled with foster animals from the humane society. We also grow a lot of flowers and provide a great habitat for the local wildlife like hummingbirds, butterflies, sparrows and frogs.

We Have Chickens Running Around the Backyard

We live in a friendly neighborhood with lots of children. The local elementary school is within sight of our front door, and all the neighbor's children like visiting the animals, especially our fluffy Samoyed (named Hero.) Everybody is so excited to meet our future child!

There is a large park down the street with lakes, fishing, playgrounds, a splash park, and a campground. During the Summer evenings the City hosts outdoor family movies and there is always a big 4th of July party with fireworks! And we are only a twenty-minute drive from the larger city with all of the theatres and museums.

Our Extended Families

Jayson and Ro are fortunate to have a large extended family who live close by. They are always having get togethers for birthdays and holidays and sometimes for no reason at all! Sometimes we take big family cruises together to Mexico or Alaska. Large family dinners are always great fun, (and there is always Karaoke.)

Romer's parents absolutely adore their grandkids and spoil them every chance they get. He also has a sister who has two kids, and a brother who has a very cool cat. There is also family in Illinois, Texas, Colorado, and the Phillippines. Romer's family raised him to go to church every Sunday, followed by brunch, of course.

Jayson has a recently married sister who lives in Los Angeles and works for the Walt Disney company. His father helps kids with learning disabilities and although his mother passed away a few years ago, Jayson carries on her irreverent sense of humor.

Jayson's sister shares his love of animals and has worked with animal welfare and rescue organizations. His dad comes from a very large Mexican family and his mother was Scandinavian (which is why he's so tall.) He also has family in Arizona.

From Us to You

We have been married for 15 years and been a couple for 20 years, so we are dependable and stable. Since we met, we have balanced each other out. Jayson loves animals, is outgoing and brings emotional intelligence. Whereas Romer loves gardening, thinking logically and is self-reliant. Together we cover one another's weaknesses and bring out the best in one another. We make a heck of a team! As parents we believe that we will raise children that are a combination of the best of us.

We want our children to grow up full of memories of playing on the beach, building sandcastles, making friends, biking to the park, going on Hawaiian cruises and learning how to raise foster kittens. Our family is surrounded by loving and supportive friends, family and community. Our children have 3 ready-made best friends next door who are around the same age.

We bought our home and built our life so that we would be ready for children, and we are so happy to be parents! We aren't perfect, but that's okay. We will raise healthy, responsible, and most importantly, kind adults. They'll always know we are there for them, and that compassion is the key to happiness.

We admire the courage it takes for you to search for just the right family for the new life you are carrying. We recognize that it is not a decision to be taken lightly and understand that love is the source of your selfless act. We are thankful that you are considering us becoming the family for this child.

Since we already adopted a son there is no mystery as to how we treat an open adoption. You can see as many crazy, happy pictures of the child as you want and we would be happy for the child to know other supportive members of their birth family through in-person visits, photos, videos, emails and/or FaceTime calls. We believe we're not only adopting a child, but also opening our hearts to a whole new family, and we hope you feel the same.

Please check out our awesome video to see more about us and our lives and we look forward to meeting you!
