How We Met

Will Putting the Final Touches on a Cake

We met in 2008 while attending culinary school. We both have a passion for baking and bonded over our gingerbread houses; Ben's was on the brink of collapse and Will's was picture perfect (as always!) Following culinary school, we worked together at a local bakery and we quickly became close friends, ultimately leading to the beginning of our relationship. We got married in a beautiful historic barn in 2016 on the rainiest day ever, but it was an amazing night!

Ben Making Pies

We didn't know it at the time, but our meeting in school was the beginning of our career together as partners in baking! As a matter of fact, we now own a bakery together which we opened in 2021, and getting to create delicious treats together every day is one of the best parts of our relationship. Will is the creative mind behind a long line of beautiful cakes, and Ben runs more of the business side of things. Our skills complement each other on a daily basis, and we really enjoy coming to work every day and doing what we love.

Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other

Wedding Selfie

We are both very different people, but have a ton of respect for one another. Our relationship works because of how different we are.

Ben really admires Will's never-ending work ethic and ability to be goofy all at the same time. He is an incredibly helpful person, whether that means cooking dinners on family vacations, or taking care of his many houseplants! He's a very kind and generous person, and will always put others before himself. He is amazing with children, whether it's by learning the latest viral dance trend with our niece, or being silly with our nephew, he was born to be a dad!

Will admires Ben because he is conscientious, responsible and has always imagined him being an incredible father. In addition to being funny, Ben also has a "provider" mentality. He always does everything that he can to make sure that everyone is taken care of. Ben is extremely hard working and keeps his cool during stressful times. Some of our friends even refer to him as "one-speed Ben" because he has the ability to stay level headed even if things get stressful. Ben enjoys talking to and interacting with the many family with children that frequent our bakery. He is patient and attentive when the children ask him questions or share their opinions of our treats.

Cultural Diversity

We are open to any race or race combination for our baby, and we understand that this level of openness can pose some challenges. We anticipate the child wondering why he or she has a different color skin, or has different hair than us. These questions are completely normal and we look forward to educating the child on the differences between races, cultures, ethnicities, etc.

It's important for any child to understand the importance of diversity, and appreciating cultural differences. We live in a neighborhood with people of different races, religions, ethnic backgrounds, cultures, sexual orientations, etc. and hope that this diversity will be instilled in the child from an early age. We take frequent family walks through our neighborhood, and encounter people all the time who look & sound different, and this is a great opportunity to educate the child about the differences between people. This will be one way for the child to understand why he or she may look different from us. Acknowledging and embracing the differences in people is a value we hope to instill in the child on a constant basis.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

We live in a small suburban neighborhood in Pennsylvania. Our neighborhood is wonderfully diverse, with families of all ages, races, nationalities and sexual orientations. We're within 30 minutes of a zoo, countless museums, a national aviary and a classic, old-time amusement park, that we both have fond memories of visiting as kids.

Our neighborhood has a civic association that holds annual events, including a yearly strawberry festival, a Fourth of July bike parade & an annual Fathers' Day yard sale, to name a few. We also have a playground and baseball field at the end of our street, complete with swings and a jungle gym, which our dog Ralphie has enjoyed climbing on! There's also a community pool that many neighborhood residents belong to and visit throughout the summer that also has a kiddie pool.

We live in a three-bedroom house that we've been in for almost nine years. We recently put in a backyard patio and raised garden beds for vegetables and we still have plenty of room for a child to play outside!

Our Extended Families

Family Beach Vacation

Family is hugely important to both of us and we're very fortunate to have close relationships with our families, and spend quality time with them regularly. We have regular Sunday night dinners with both of our families, which often involve grilled food, and always end with desserts from our bakery!

We both have one older brother, both of whom live close by and have kids of their own, who we enjoy seeing regularly as well.

Our schnoodle Ralphie is almost 10, and loves to play and cuddle! He's full of energy, and is well-known in our neighborhood for his impressively long eyelashes and his love of playing in the leaves!

Family Lake Vacation

Ben's mom lives a short five-minute drive away, is retired and is very excited for regular babysitting days! Ben's dad owns his own business and lives just 15 minutes away, so we see him for a weekly dinner. Ben's dad's partner has grandchildren of her own, and we consider them part of our extended family. Will's parents live 15 minutes away, and Will's mom has been a huge part of taking care of our niece and nephew, and both of Will's parents are very excited to be a Mimi and Pappy to another grand baby!

All of our families couldn't be more excited about this journey that we're on, and are eagerly awaiting the day that we become dads!

From Us to You

We would like to express our gratitude that you are taking the time to read our profile! It is our dream to become parents, and we're so glad that adoption is the option for us to make that a reality. We also want to acknowledge how much we admire you, for making this incredibly difficult and brave decision. We understand that this is a decision that you haven't come to lightly, and appreciate that choosing adoptive parents is one of the biggest decisions you'll ever make. We promise to give your baby a beautiful home and life, and to love them unconditionally.

We have always known that the path to parenthood would be through adoption. It has always been the only option we considered when discussing the process of becoming dads. We're so glad that you've chosen to take the time to read our profile and consider us to raise your baby! Becoming adoptive parents is something that we'll be proud about for our entire lives, and we promise to make sure your child is proud to have been adopted!

We've been together for 12 years, and have been married for almost 7 of those years. We got married in a beautiful 200 year-old barn in 2016. We've always had a very strong relationship, and find that we balance each other out very well. We couldn't be more different, but since the day we started dating, we've always found that to be the biggest strength in our relationship. Will teaches Ben every day to be more care free and to be silly (like by doing Karaoke for the first time!), and Ben teaches Will to be level-headed and not to sweat the small stuff in life. We think that our collective traits will make for a very healthy living environment for your baby. Our friends and family tell us all the time how great we'll be as dads, and we're excited about the opportunity!

Our families couldn't be more excited about this journey that we're on. We're excited for our parents to love and adore their grandchild! We're both very fortunate to have wonderful, loving families who have supported us from day one, and with whom we have great relationships.

We are supportive of as much contact as you'd like with your child. We firmly believe that their identity will be formed through conversations about adoption, and also through an understanding of where they came from. While we'll be dedicated to sending letters and pictures to you as the child develops, we're also committed to exchanging emails, texts, phone calls, Facetimes, and most importantly, physical visits as much as possible. We understand that everyone lives a busy life, and there may be times where communication slows, and we completely understand that this is a natural progression, but we hope that we can maintain a solid relationship over the years.

We also want to express how important you are to us! It's a huge priority for us to make sure that you are 100% comfortable, and encourage you to ask any questions you might have about us or our life. We would love to talk to you before you make a decision, if that's something that you'd be comfortable with.

We wish you strength in making this decision, and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your consideration!
