Chris & Vera

We are Chris and Vera.
Thanks for reading our profile
We really hope you like it.
We hope it makes you smile.
You might think it sounds musical....
But really it is Seuss-icle.
We've been married for a long time.
We have a very stable home.
We're hoping to complete our family,
with a cherished little one.

Adoption in Our Lives

Fun Together at the Zoo

"I" is for his Intelligence, though he's really just a tot.
"S" is for his Silliness. We love his laugh a lot.
"A" is for Adventure--He's always having one.
"A" again for Active--moving, having fun.
"C" is for his Caring. He's such a loving boy.
Together they spell "Isaac." He's such a pride and joy.

He joined us through adoption, when just a little babe.
We had waited for forever, and were so glad when he came.
His birth mom and birth dad chose us. We visit with them still.
He knows they really love him, and that they always will.

Isaac loves to swim and play, and take walks with his wagon.
His energy is limitless, even when adults are dragging.
Reading is a favorite-- "Cat in the Hat" cover to cover
That's what inspired our rhyming now. -- We've read it over and over.

Isaac knows that all his friends have sisters or have brothers.
He wants one too, and doesn't care, if it's one or the other.
He's ready for a sibling, and he loves babies so.
He'll be a great big brother, and protect them while they grow.

What it Means to Be Parents

Silliness on the Slide

To be a parent means so much.
It's our most important job.
It's every little loving touch,
And comforting every sob.

Being a parent really means
We always will be there
From babyhood to toddler or teen
We'll be firm and we'll be fair.

And when our children are all grown,
They'll be our children still.
We'll visit and talk by phone.
We'll be there for them still.

Being a parent means forever.
It means all of our love
It means we love them whether
They're old or they are young.

Lots of patience is required
To be a mom or dad.
Your really have to be inspired
And calm your temper when you're mad.

Parents teach and help their kids
With every little thing.
That is what OUR parents did,
And it means everything.

But love is most and love is all.
And love is what you need.
Love saves you when you take a fall.
Love is parenting, indeed.

So what it means to be a parent
Is answered just by this....
We ALWAYS will be there for them
With a hug and with a kiss.

What Made Us Who We Are

Off to Work

"What made us who we are?" you ask,
And we'll be sure to tell.
It's really not too big a task.
We'll try to do it well.

Both of us were born and raised
In stable families, yes.
Though they weren't rich, you'd be amazed,
Their care for us was best.

Our parents taught us values,
And that hard work will pay.
And now we've found that it is true.
We work and then we play.

Then Chris was in the Army.
That also shaped him some.
Even though he still is corny,
There's more to him than fun.

Vera went to college
And now she works with teens.
As a therapist she'll acknowledge
What our feelings really mean.

And now we've been together
For more than 20 years.
And that has made us better.
We think that it is clear.

Then there is Isaac's impact.
He really helps us see
The need for patience, that's a fact,
And how strong love can be.

Now we hope that this child
Will also shape our lives.
We can hardly wait awhile.
We have so much love to give.

Our House and Neighborhood

Home Sweet Home

Once upon a time, when we first met
We had a small house, but you can bet
We saved a long time, for our castle to get.
Now that we have it, we're all set.

Now we live in a big, airy home
With light and big windows all around.
A little creek runs through our back yard.
And so, relaxing there isn't hard.

Our Big Backyard

Our yard is big, with a garden in it.
The deck is a good place to rest for a bit.
We have a swingset and sandbox for playing outside.
And a driveway for bikes and learning to ride.

We live just outside of a mid-sized town.
There are birds, deer, and bunnies all around.
Yet we're also close to parks and fun.
Last summer, each week, we went to a different one.

Our neighborhood is friendly and very safe.
The people here make it a really nice place.
Some neighbors raise chickens and one has goats.
Some are young and some retired--all really nice folks!

Our Extended Families

At the Zoo With Vera's Family

Our extended family is supportive of us.
We love each other deeply, without extra fuss.
We always spent time with both sides of our clan.
For holidays and birthdays, that's always the plan.

Vera's mother lives close -- 15 minutes by car.
So a visit to Grandma is never too far.
She loves to read stories to Isaac and play.
Having a new grandchild, would just make her day.

Vera's father died at age 97.
We miss him so much, but we know he's in heaven.
He got to know Isaac, for a very short while.
He held his tiny hand and made everyone smile.

Proud Uncle Chris

Chris' parents are here, in the same town as us.
So it's not far to see them, by car or by bus.
Chris' mother is active and does not sit still.
She loves her grandchildren, and there's room for more still.

Chris' father is funny, and makes silly jokes.
But he's also the best at helping other folks.
Chris has a brother, his wife and three kids.
They keep things exciting, and that is no fib.

Vera's brother, his wife, and both of their teens
Live further away, so that simply means
That they travel to see us whenever they can.
They really love Isaac. They're his biggest fans.

From Us to You

It's time to leave the rhyming and fun, and get a little serious.

Our letter to you is important, so no more of this rhyming business!

Dear Birth Parent,

What an amazing person you must be! To consider choosing adoption for your child is one of the most selfless and generous things that a person could possibly do. Not only are you looking out for this child, but you are also giving some incredibly lucky family a chance to have a child that they could not have in another way. We're really hoping that family will be ours ... but no matter who you choose, they will be so very lucky.

We don't know what your situation is, and we can only imagine how difficult this decision must be for you. Please remember that what you're considering is the greatest gift that anyone could give to someone like us. We would never forget you, we would always and forever cherish this child, and we will never take parenthood for granted. Our family will always be there for this child, loving them, caring for them, and laughing with them.

If you do choose us for this important, wonderful role, we want you to know that we'll make sure this child knows about you, how generous you are, and how strong you are for making this decision. We'll share with them whatever information about you that you want for them to know. We'll be happy to send you pictures and letters with updates on a regular basis. If you would like to have some visits, we are very open to that, as well as keeping you involved in whatever way you feel most comfortable. We will, of course, respect whatever you feel is best for you.

While we are picturing what it could be like to cherish this child in our family... we hope that you can picture this child with us as well. Picture a home where the child is loved and cared for in every moment of every day. Picture a pair of supportive and consistent parents, who will teach this child about life and who will love this child no matter what happens  Picture a big brother, always ready to play and to protect.  Picture a home filled with warmth and laughter. Picture this child as a baby in loving arms, as a toddler playing with books and toys (and hearing lots of Dr. Seuss rhymes), as a child exploring a big backyard and all the joys of nature, as a teen going to sports events and proms with us taking pictures, and even as an adult always having our love and support.

Thank you for taking the time to learn a bit about us and for putting up with our rhymes, and thank you so much for considering us to parent this child. If you choose us, we will be the very best parents we can be, and we will do everything we can to give this child a wonderful home and a wonderful life.

We hope that your journey and ours are about to meet. But, even if they do not, we wish you the very best in your journey.
