Richard & K.C.
You are making such a brave decision and we admire your strength and courage. We promise to provide a loving and safe home dedicated to ensuring your child has every opportunity to grow and be successful. We are so excited to become parents and are thankful for the chance to tell you about ourselves and look forward to learning about you too.
Our Leisure Time
During the week we both work during the day, but in the evening, after we have had dinner together, we work as a team to get chores done around the house. We do the chores during the week so by the time Friday rolls around we have all the free time we want so we can hang out with each other and with friends. Whether it's hiking in the park, exploring a nearby town, taking a road trip, or staying home to watch a movie, we really enjoy spending time together.
Since Richard loves to cook, we also enjoy having friends over to our home, which gives him the chance to create a nice home-cooked meal for our friends. Individually, K.C. volunteers at the local hospital once a week, participates as much as possible in church activities and loves to read. On the other hand, Rich loves to do woodworking and taking care of do-it-yourself home improvement projects around the house.
If we are fortunate enough to become parents, K.C. will be a stay-at-home mom and our focus will be the baby and family time. Our nightly and weekend activities will include enjoying the kid-friendly events our neighborhood has to offer, like walking to the park and going to the playground. We also look forward to visiting with our friends who are so excited about having our children play together.
Our Adventures
When Rich joined the Air Force, we knew it would be fun and exciting, but we did not realize it would be one adventure after another and that it would take us all over the world. In the last few years, we have lived in some pretty amazing places, but our two most favorite are Hawaii and England.
Living in Hawaii, with the beautiful mountains, magnificent beaches, and great culture was amazing. We travelled throughout the islands, hiked, surfed, dived, snorkeled, or just hung out on the beach and relaxed. A few years later, we were able to move to England, which gave us a completely different view of the world and a wonderful opportunity to travel some more. While there we managed to visit around twenty different countries and took road trips throughout England and Europe.
Our Air Force journey, which has given us great friends, amazing places to visit, wonderful things to see, and incredible memories to cherish, is our biggest adventure. Now, we look forward to having a child in our lives so that we can share the next great adventure with.
What it Means to be Parents
Being parents means providing a loving and nurturing home: a home where the child knows they are loved, regardless of what is going on; a home where they feel comfortable to talk about their hopes and dreams, as well as their problems; a home where they can flourish and know that their future is wide open. Being parents also means preparing a child for their future: building their confidence; teaching them to be independent; and enabling them to reach their potential. We also want to show them how to be caring adults by volunteering as a family. We are looking forward to experiencing the different stages of a child's life: from reading their favorite bedtime story for the fiftieth time, to supporting their choice of sport or club, to picking out the perfect prom dress or corsage. We know parenthood will not always be easy, but are excited for the opportunity to see them grow and experience it all first hand.

Our House and Neighborhood
We love Ohio and enjoy the beauty the four seasons have to offer. Just a short drive away are national parks, zoos, children’s museums, theme parks, and an aquarium… all waiting to be explored through a child’s eyes.
When we moved here, we chose a family-friendly, safe neighborhood with top-rated schools so we could raise a little one. It is full of families with children of all ages – a sight to see on Halloween when the houses are decorated and the streets are filled with hundreds of kids in costumes! There is always something to do in the area - just around the corner is an Easter egg hunt, an annual city festival, a weekly farmers market, and family movie nights at the community center. We love the nearby parks, hiking and biking paths, and enjoy walking to our favorite ice cream shop. We look forward to the day we can do all these things with a stroller and diaper bag in hand.
We chose our home with a child in mind. Its four-bedroom, open floor plan makes it feel nice and cozy. On cool nights the basement is ready for family movie and game nights. On warmer days the large fenced-in back yard is perfect for enjoying a meal or just hanging out with friends. It’s a great place to run around and there is already a spot picked out for the swing set! This is truly a great place to live and raise a family.
Our Extended Families
We both grew up in sunny Florida, where Rich spent his summers playing on the beach with his younger brother and older sister, and K.C. grew up playing with her two younger brothers. We moved away when Rich joined the Air Force, but visit our families often, especially during the holidays. Since Thanksgiving is K.C.’s favorite holiday, we visit her parents’ home where both our families gather to eat her mom’s amazing cooking. Throughout the day, we help with the cooking, but mainly do it to sneak a taste every once in a while. By dinnertime, the house is packed with old friends, siblings and our nieces and a nephew. It’s always a great time, full of laughter as we relive childhood memories, play games and watch the kids play together. Our family is very excited to take this adoption journey with us and our nieces and nephew cannot wait to meet their new cousin!
Being in the Air Force, our family has grown to include the friends and neighbors we met along with way. Our friend in Hawaii is waiting to make her famous pecan pie, while our English friends cannot wait to spoil our baby when we visit them in England. We see our local friends and their families on a regular basis at church or throughout the week for get-togethers. Our friends’ children cannot wait to have a new playmate!
From Us to You
Hi there - we are K.C. and Richard and we have been married for 17 amazing years. Being together is one of our greatest enjoyments, and as corny as it sounds, our love for each other is greater today than when we first met 20 years ago. Having been able to enjoy a wonderful life and having had the opportunity to share an incredible journey together has been a real blessing, but the absence of a child has made our family and our lives incomplete. Thank you for giving us this chance to tell you a little about ourselves and of the life and family we plan to make with an adopted child.
We are an Air Force family and are grateful for the opportunities, experiences, and memories we’ve been able to make since Richard joined the Air Force several years ago. As an Air Force family we’ve met many wonderful people and have made great and long-lasting friends, all of whom are excited about us becoming parents. We are also fortunate to be financially secure enough that K.C. will not have to work so she can be a stay-at-home mom, a job she is definitely ready for.
Our home is ready for a child and their laughter. We have a bedroom picked out - it’s the room closest to ours - which we can’t wait to decorate. We also have a playroom that is ready to go and a spot in the backyard that is perfect for the swing set. Our friends are ready to come over with their children for playdates and our moms can’t wait to be grandmas. During the week, we plan on having family lunches at the park near Richard’s office, and taking family outings on the weekends with some of our great friends.
Starting a family and being parents has been our desire for some time, but unfortunately we cannot conceive naturally. This is why we decided to adopt. If adoption brings us together, know that you will always have a special place in our lives and in our hearts. Our ability to start a family and share our lives with a little one would not be possible without you and we are thankful for your decision to consider us. We promise to tell this adoption story to your child in a loving and positive way and if you want, we will make sure to include you and anything you want us to share in the story as well. We can even send pictures and letters to show you the happiness you’ve brought to the child and our lives.
Our home and our hearts are ready to show a child the unconditional love they deserve. We promise you that your child will be cared for and raised with all the opportunities available to grow and to be a successful adult.
Hopefully, you have a better understanding of who we are and the home and life we have to give. We understand our limited words may not give you the complete story… so if you have any questions, we are here to answer them. Our greatest desire is that you feel comfortable with your decision, whatever it may be.
May God give you strength and embrace you always,
Richard & K.C.
