Marcus & Rebecca

Hello! We are so happy you have chosen to consider our family for adoption. We want you to know that we cannot think of a better way to grow our family than through adoption. We have two happy little boys who cannot wait to meet their new sibling. They make our lives truly joyful and we look forward to the love, joy and excitement another child will add to our family!

Our Leisure Time

Family Photo at the Mississippi River

As a family we like to take bike rides to the park, visit grandparents, go to the library or just hang out in the back yard. Becky enjoys reading books or volunteering at the boy’s preschool in her spare time. In the mornings Becky and the boys like to snuggle on the couch and read a few of their favorite books before starting their day. She is very excited to be able to buy new books as we learn what your child likes to read!

Marcus enjoys coaching the boys’ sports teams, teaching the boys how to swim and spending outdoor time with them. He looks forward to doing the same with another child and spending time with them in other activities they enjoy. When he is not with the boys he enjoys playing soccer, paintball and broomball, as well as attending church house group on Wednesday nights. We envision many years of fun in the back yard, cheering from the stands for choir, dance, band or any other event your child wishes to be in. We are so excited to find out what your child will enjoy doing and what their unique talents will be!

Discussing Adoption

We Are So Excited to Add to Our Family!

Right from the start we will tell your child about their adoption. We will tell them that they have two sets of parents who love them very much. They will be our world and they will know that you spent tons of time going over countless families to choose the perfect one for them. We will tell them about all the love and time you spent making sure they were loved and cared for. We will tell them about the journey we took to become a family. We will always be open with your child about their adoption and the circumstances that surrounded them becoming a part of our family. We will always answer any questions they have about adoption and you honestly. No question or subject will be off limits as they start to explore their adoption and what that means to them.

Family Traditions

Paddle Boating at Memaw's

We have a few big family traditions that we enjoy every year. In July Marcus extended family rents cabins at a resort. For a week the whole family from great grandparents, to new baby cousins enjoy swimming, tubing, fishing, and other water sports. On Wednesday we go to the turtle race in the nearby town and then to the toy factory. After, we drive to Memaw and Bupa’s (Becky’s parents) and spend a relaxing week at their house fishing and swimming. In August we take a weekend trip to an indoor water park and go meet Thomas the Train and take a ride. For Christmas we go to Memaw and Bupa’s where Santa fly’s in to give the kids gifts and say hi. Holidays are spent with each family where gifts are exchanged and good food is eaten.

Our Extended Families

Becky and Her Mom at the Pig Races

Becky’s extended family is smaller than Marcus’, but very close. Becky’s mom and step-dad have retired to a small lake in northern Minnesota where we frequently visit for family gatherings and to go fishing, boating, hiking, and just relaxing. Becky’s Dad is a fourth generation carpenter and Harley rider – holidays are filled with amazing hand crafted wood working gifts for the kids. Her brother, "Uncle DD" is the boys’ favorite person to play with! A big kid himself life is always fun and games when he is around. Becky’s extended family frequently gets together to celebrate the holiday’s or just because.

Marcus' Family

Marcus’ mom loves to cook and spoil all her grandchildren. She is overjoyed at the thought of spoiling another one! Marcus has 2 brothers and 3 nephews. Marcus also has a very close extended family with over 30 cousins ranging from adult to 9 years old. Every 4th of July Marcus’ extended family rents cabins for a week. Marcus’ dad brings his boat and pulls the kids on inner tubes. If the kids want something they know Grandpa is the one to ask, as he has a soft spot for all his grandkids and usually can't say no. Your child will fit right in during these vacations with all of the aunts, uncles cousins and pets!

Our House and Neighborhood

Home Sweet Home

We live in a split level home with plenty of room for growth in a quiet Minnesotan neighborhood. With the five parks, schools, and a library all within in walking distance, our wonderful neighborhood offers everything we need. Our parks each provide a unique experience for the kids featuring a variety of jungle gyms, basketball courts, public beaches, and hockey rinks. Our school systems are top rated and provide a variety of activities for the kids as they grow.

The Beautiful Swingset Marcus Built

Our home is nestled among old trees that provide shade in the summer and tons of leaves to jump into every fall. After moving into our home Marcus has worked hard to remodel it for our family. Outside he built a large swing set and garden for the kids to play on and grow vegetables. We also have a small patio and fire pit in the backyard and can’t wait for your child to join us for summer s'mores! Inside we have five bedrooms and a toy-filled family room. This child would sleep in our hand crafted family bassinet, made by Beck’s Great-Great Grandfather before being moved to the Cat in the Hat nursery. One day we hope to buy land within our neighborhood to build a new house where we plan to stay the rest of our lives.

From Us to You

Hello. We are Marcus and Becky, and although we don’t know why you are considering adoption, we want you to know we have the greatest respect for the decision you make! Thank you for looking at our family profile and considering us to be your child’s parents. We are so excited for them to be included in all that we do and our sons, Matthew and Josh, can’t wait to share new adventures with their little sibling. Both have already colored pictures for the new baby and ask all the time when we can bring them home.

The two of us met in college through mutual friends and after spending a year getting to know each other we started dating. After a couple years of dating we were happily married and have been for seven years, and now have two beautiful energetic little boys. We would love to grow our family again and can’t think of a better way than through adoption! Your child will be loved cherished and spoiled by grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends who are already excited to meet them (some have even bought gifts they can’t wait to give your baby).

Marcus works as a full-time engineer for a great company that understands family comes first. This has made it easy for Marcus to be involved in the everyday lives of our boys and not miss out on any of the important events. Becky is a full-time stay-at-home mom and a part-time nurse. During the week she stays home with the boys and works only occasionally on the weekend’s at a local hospital. Our weeks are packed with activities for the kids such as art projects, play dates with friends, baking cookies, relaxing with a good book or just playing outside on the swing set Marcus built. The boys also love attending our wonderful Christian preschool where Becky serves as the VP of the school board and is a frequent parent volunteer.

We love to have fun and stay busy, but we also know it’s important to have down time where we can grow closer as family and bond with extended family. Our extended families love to stay involved in the children’s lives whether that be baby-sitting once a week so we can go to small group or going to the local water park with the kids. Our favorite place to relax is on vacation with extended family. We take annual trips to Becky’s parents cabin for relaxing bike rides, fishing, hiking and the great outdoors (always with S’mores) or with Marcus’ extended family on a week-long Independence Day vacation (one week all 50 of his relatives get together for fishing, hiking, water sports, basketball and just good old family meals). It is a time of bonding his family has done since before he was born.

If you choose us to be your child’s parents, we want you to know how loved your child will be by everyone in their life. By sharing letters and pictures with you as your child grows, we hope to give you comfort in knowing you made the right decision in choosing us. We also want your child to know how much you love them. Right from the beginning we will share your child’s adoption story with them, and allow them to ask questions so they will always know the courage, strength and unbelievable love it took for you to consider adoption.

We believe that children and family are one of God’s greatest blessings, and we can’t wait to add another child to our family! We are honored that you took the time to get to know us better!

With love,

Marcus & Rebecca
