Our Leisure Time

Family Photo at the Mississippi River

As a family we like to take bike rides to the park, visit grandparents and friends, go to the library or just hang out in the back yard. Becky enjoys reading books or volunteering at the boy’s school in her spare time. In the mornings Becky and the boys like to snuggle on the couch and read a few of their favorite books before starting their day. She is very excited to be able to buy new books as we learn what your child likes to read! Becky also enjoys baking. She loves to bake just about any sweet she can and enjoys sharing them with friends!

Marcus enjoys coaching the boys’ sports teams, teaching them how to swim and just spending time with them. He looks forward to doing the same with another child and finding out what they enjoy! When he is not with the boys he enjoys playing hanging out with friends and attending church house group on Wednesday nights. We envision many years of fun in the back yard, and cheering for choir, dance, band or any other event your child wishes to be in. We are so excited to find out what your child will enjoy doing and what their unique talents will be!

Discussing Adoption

We Are So Excited to Add to Our Family!

Right from the start we will tell your child about their adoption. We will tell them that they have two sets of parents who love them very much. They will be our world and they will know that you spent tons of time going over countless families to choose the perfect one for them. We will tell them about all the love and time you spent making sure they were loved and cared for. We will tell them about the journey we took to become a family. We will always be open with your child about their adoption and the circumstances that surrounded them becoming a part of our family. We will always answer any questions they have about adoption and you honestly. No question or subject will be off limits as they start to explore their adoption and what that means to them.

Family Traditions

Family Fun at Disney

We have a few family traditions that we enjoy every year. Over the 4th of July we drive to Memaw and Bupa’s (Becky’s parents) and spend a relaxing week at their house. Marcus’s family rents a cabin nearby so we can all have fun together! Everyone enjoys fishing, swimming, parades and fireworks on the lake. For Christmas we go to Memaw’s house, where Santa fly’s into a family farm and gives the kids gifts. Holidays are spent with each extended family. More recently Marcus has been making yearly trips to Florida and California for work. Becky and the boys tag along and spend the day at Disney. Marcus joins after work for lots of family fun. We are planning our next trip and pray we can include our new child in all the magic of Disney. Who will be their favorite Disney character?

Our Extended Families

Becky and Her Mom at the Pig Races

Becky’s extended family is smaller than Marcus’, but very close. Becky’s mom and step-dad have retired to a small lake in northern Minnesota where we frequently visit for family gatherings and to go fishing, boating, hiking, and just relaxing. Becky’s Dad is a fourth generation carpenter and Harley rider – holidays are filled with amazing hand crafted wood working gifts for the kids. Her brother, "Uncle DD" is the boys’ favorite person to play with! A big kid himself life is always fun and games when he is around. Becky’s extended family frequently gets together to celebrate the holiday’s or just because.

Marcus' Family

Marcus’ mom loves to cook and spoil all her grandchildren. She is overjoyed at the thought of spoiling another one! Marcus has 2 brothers, 3 nephews and 1 niece. His older brother lives close and so we get them frequently. The boys are best friends with their cousins. His middle brother lives in Arizona, but we love to take trips to see them in the winter.

Our House and Neighborhood

Home Sweet Home

We live in a split level home with plenty of room for growth in a quiet neighborhood. With five parks, schools, and a library all within in walking distance, our wonderful neighborhood offers everything we need. Our neighbors all look out for each other, from shoveling snow and mowing lawns to older kids teaching younger kids how to play sports, we are lucky to live where we do! Our school systems are top rated and provide a variety of activities for the kids as they grow.

The Beautiful Swingset Marcus Built

Our home is nestled among old trees that provide shade in the summer and tons of leaves to jump into every fall. After moving into our home Marcus has worked hard to remodel it for our family. Outside he built a large swing set and garden for the kids to play on and grow vegetables. We also have a small patio and fire pit in the backyard and can’t wait for your child to join us for summer s'mores! Inside we have five bedrooms and a toy-filled family room. This child would sleep in our hand crafted family bassinet, made by Beck’s Great-Great Grandfather before being moved to the Cat in the Hat nursery. One day we hope to buy land within our neighborhood to build a new house where we plan to stay the rest of our lives.

From Us to You

Hello. Thank you for looking at our family profile and considering us to be your child’s parents; although we don’t know why you are considering adoption, we want you to know we have the greatest respect for you and the decision you choose. We hope that if you choose this loving path of adoption, our profile and this letter will bring you peace in the decision you are making by knowing how much we already love and care for your child. We are so excited for them to be included in all that we do! Our sons, Matthew and Josh, can’t wait to share new adventures with their little sibling. Every night both boys pray for “our baby” and ask all the time when they get to meet them.

We met in college through mutual friends and after spending a year getting to know each other we started dating. After a couple years of dating we were happily married and have been for nine years. For as long as Becky can remember adoption has always been one of the ways she planned to have a family. After marring Marcus we both agreed that adoption was something we wanted to pursue as a way to grow our family. However, due to the nature of Marcus’s job at the time we were never able to stay in one place long enough to start the process. Now that Marcus has a new job and we have set down roots in a permanent location, we can’t think of a better way to add more children to our family!

Marcus works as a full-time engineer for a great company that understands family comes first. This has made it easy for Marcus to be involved in the everyday lives of our boys and not miss out on any of the important events. Becky is a full-time stay-at-home mom and a part-time nurse. During the week she stays home with the boys and works only occasionally on the weekends at a local hospital. Our weeks are packed with fun for the whole family, Awana and Bible study, sports, play dates with friends, baking cookies, relaxing with a good book or just playing outside on the swing set Marcus built. We love to have fun and stay busy, but we also know it’s important to have down time where we can grow closer as family and bond with extended family.

We are so excited to include your child in all of our traditions and teach them about the things we love, but we are even more excited to watch them grown and discover new things that they love. Just as our boys grow and develop their own personalities and interests, we can’t wait to nurture your child’s unique personality and help them discover what things interest them. The boys will tell anyone who will listen that they are going to be good big brothers. They share all about the games they are going to play with the new baby and how they will help mom and dad care for them. Our family and friends are very supportive of our adoption and can’t wait to spoil another child.

In today’s media age sharing letters, pictures and video with you as your child grows, is easy and just one way we hope to give you comfort in knowing you made the right decision in choosing us. We also want your child to know how much you love them. Right from the beginning we will share your child’s adoption story with them, and allow them to ask questions so they will always know the courage, strength and unbelievable love it took for you to consider adoption.

We believe that children and family are one of God’s greatest blessings, and we can’t wait to add another child to our family! We are honored that you took the time to get to know us better!

With love,

Marcus & Rebecca
