Our Leisure Time

Enjoying an Outdoor Concert

Whether at home or exploring our town, we love spending time together and with our friends and family. There are so many adventures outside our front door. We are fond of visits to local summer farmer's markets, cultural exhibits at the art and science museums, and outdoor summer art festivals. We enjoy walking and picnicking in the many city parks, hiking the trails behind our home, and exploring the national parks for short day hikes. Long weekend trips to the mountains and a week at the beach every summer with Liz's family are what we look forward to the most.

We love all music: blues, country, classic rock and especially live music. Often, we attend family-friendly neighborhood concerts in the park and occasionally see shows at larger venues.

We also enjoy relaxing at home and enjoy cooking family recipes to continue our family traditions as well as learning new recipes. In the colder months, we like to cook dinner together and watch a movie or play a board game. We both grew up playing games with our families and we now love playing dominos, rumikub, etc. when we gather with our extended family.

We look forward to sharing these interests with this child and joining him/her on new adventures that interest him/her!

Our Favorite Vacation Spot

A Bautiful Day in Maui

We are beach people! We love to visit Hawaii. Liz grew up travelling to the Hawaiian islands with her family and first shared her love of the incredible vacation spot with Chad for their honeymoon. As soon as the plane lands, the smell of the salty ocean and island flowers reminds us to slow down and to truly appreciate the Hawaiian lifestyle of sun, surf and relaxation. We usually spend our mornings at the beach. Chad adores swimming in the ocean and Liz likes to dip her toes in the sand and read a book under the umbrella. In the afternoons, we like to explore the islands with a hike to a waterfall, a tour of a volcano, or a venture to a tucked-away town to try the local cuisine. A highlight of the vacation is a catamaran snorkeling excursion. We love to float in the ocean while seeing all the exotic fish and coral reefs. In the evenings, we enjoy walking on the beach, attending a luau to learn about the local culture, or dinning at a favorite seafood restaurant. We are always a bit sad when it's time to return home, but always feel sun-kissed and rejuvenated after a trip to the beaches of Hawaii.

Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other

Summer Hike

Chad admires that Liz is both very giving and nurturing. She is comforting and supportive and recognizes when a hug is needed after a long day, when to listen, and when to give advice. Chad respects her honesty and ability to be straightforward. She has an incredible work ethic and knows how to get the job done and never quits. Chad admires that Liz is loved by everyone and genuinely cares about the well-being of her friends and family. She is a trusted friend and makes sure that everyone feels welcome and included. Chad loves her great sense of humor. She knows how to have fun and makes everyday life enjoyable together.

Liz admires that Chad is easy-going, adaptable and patient. His warm smile, constant happy demeanor and sense of gratitude remind her what matters most day to day. Chad values the importance of family and is very responsible and dependable. Liz respects his integrity and selflessness. He is compassionate about the needs of others and is kind to everyone that crosses his path. He is a reliable and loyal friend and loved by all his friends and family. Liz absolutely loves Chad's sense of humor and his ability to make any moment light and funny; his laugh is contagious. His adeptness to find the humor in everything is what makes life together so wonderful!

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Lovely Home

We feel fortunate to live in Colorado and appreciate all that the Colorado weather and the outdoors have to offer. Chad was born and raised here and Liz moved here several years ago. Our neighborhood is 15 minutes away from a major city and close to several town centers with local shops, restaurants, etc. It's a safe and desirable neighborhood with several large parks and a community rec center which is known for having the best indoor pool and waterslide in town! Our neighborhood is very kid friendly and family oriented; everyone looks after each other and supports one another. There are many special events including ice cream socials, outdoor movie nights, and holiday parades which all encourage family involvement and getting to know your neighbors. Day-to-day, kids and families can be seen playing in the parks, walking their dogs, and riding bikes.

We live in an open-concept condo and our favorite rooms are the large living room and kitchen. We also love our patio where we enjoy watching the sunset and looking at our Rocky Mountain view. Steps out of our front door are winding nature trails, parks, museums, and the rec center. We love where we live because we have easy access to so many places to go and things to do - it's a great place to raise a child!

Our Extended Families

Chad With His Dad & Brother

Chad has a warm fun-loving family, including an older brother and sister and their extended families, who all reside about an hour away from us. We love spending time with Chad's family and get together often for family barbecues and to celebrate special occasions and festive holidays. We enjoy playing games and love a good competition. A favorite family tradition is the Christmas zonk gift. We draw names and try to outdo each other with the best gag gift. It's a night that can get a little out of control and provides for a lot of good laughs.

Liz & Her Twin Sister

Liz has an identical twin sister and a very close-knit family. Although her twin doesn't live nearby, we see her often throughout the year. We all look forward to our annual family tradition of sharing a house for a week at the beach in North Carolina. Days are spent enjoying the ocean and sightseeing, and in the evening we visit one of our favorite seafood restaurants and then return home to relax on the porch and play dominos. We all cherish this time spent together.

We are excited to share these fun family experiences with a child. Both of our families are very supportive and are thrilled for us to add a child to our family and will play large rolls in this child's life.

From Us to You

We are honored that you are reading our letter and taking the time to get to know us. Our names are Chad and Liz and we've been married for 13 years and together for 15 years. We met through our close friends who are married and thought our personalities would be a good fit! Chad is easy-going, optimistic, loving, has a sweet tooth for anything chocolate, and has an incredible sense of humor; his friends like to compare favorite "Chad" stories. Liz is nurturing, passionate, kind, out-going, adores ice cream, and is a little bit silly. Our life together is laughter-filled which enables us to navigate all that comes our way and enjoy what matters most to us, family.

We love spending time together and have long dreamed of adding a child to our family. Whether it's walking and picnicking in our neighborhood parks, hiking a nearby trail, visiting a local farmer's market, or listening to music at a concert we are always up for an adventure. We savor quiet time at home too and enjoy cooking together, playing games, and watching movies. We can't wait to share our love of the outdoors with this child, listen to music as a family, play dominos together, and explore new adventures and share quiet moments at home as a family.

Liz works in the interior design industry and loves anything art related. She looks forward to exploring museums and taking this child to art classes. Chad was an all-state high school football player and has dreamed of playing catch and watching a NFL game with this child. He is eager to pass on his love of sports and explore new sports and activities with this child. We both love to read and look forward to a time when we can read bedtime stories with this child and help him/her learn to read.

A strong educational foundation is important to us. Chad is the first person in his family to receive a college degree and he also has a master's degree. We will strive to provide the best education possible for this child. We understand that children have different learning styles and we will navigate the best resources for this child to learn successfully. Additionally, we will encourage learning and growth in and out of the classroom via team sports, the arts, summer camp and travel.

We love to travel, especially to the beach, and a favorite family tradition is a North Carolina beach trip with Liz's identical twin sister and extended family. We have all long envisioned building sand castles, jumping the ocean waves holding hands, collecting sea shells and walking the beach at sunset with this child. Other favorite family traditions are summertime barbecues and game nights with Chad's dad and extended family. We aren't afraid to be goofy and often have gag gifts for everyone. We look forward to seeing this child's sense of humor.

We have a warm inviting home in a safe neighborhood with several parks, a rec center, and access to many family friendly activities. Our open concept home has plenty of space for this child to play and a room for us to tuck him/her in at night. You have our promise that we and our extended family will love, care and support this child unconditionally, keep him/her safe, and provide what he/she needs to reach his/her goals and pursue his/her dreams. We want this child to soar and we have waited a lifetime to meet and love him/her!

It is extremely important to us that this child knows her/his adoption/birth story and has a connection to her/his biological family. We are committed to sending life-long letters with pictures detailing childhood milestones, exchanging emails and visiting with you once in your state between the ages of 1 to 5 years, with the possibility of additional visits. Our relationship with you is important and we want to continue to nurture it for the best of this child.

Our hearts are with you.

Chad & Liz
