Adam & Megan
Thank you for taking the time to check out our profile! We are beyond excited that you're considering us to parent your child. We have so much love to give and we know we'll adore any child we are placed with beyond measure. It's impossible to put into words just how much being parents means to us. We have looked forward to this our entire lives, and we can't wait to start the journey!
Adoption in Our Lives
We both feel that adoption is something that was placed in our hearts long ago. Adam has twin cousins who were adopted at the age of two from Vietnam. Because they are a year older than him, he doesn't ever remember a time when they weren't family. He grew up loving them and has many memories with them from his childhood.
Megan doesn't have any immediate family members who were adopted. She did, however, babysit and nanny for a family who's two children were adopted. She started babysitting their first child as an infant, and was close to the family when they adopted their second child. Witnessing the joy and elation they felt after adopting their second child has always stuck with her. Adoption has been something she felt called to do for a long time - before she was even married. The idea of adopting was something we found we had in common when we started dating. Once we received our infertility diagnosis, we realized this is what God wanted us to do all along. We are so excited to be on this journey and can't wait to become parents.
Our Favorite Vacation Spot
When we got married, almost five years ago, we went to Maui, Hawaii on our honeymoon. It was paradise! Megan had never traveled to Hawaii, and it was a dream come true to be able to go. Not only did we love lounging on the beach and by the pool at our hotel, but we also loved exploring the island and culture itself of Maui.
One of our favorite memories of the trip was when we took our convertible up the Road to Hana, which twists and turns up a mountain. There are several waterfalls and hikes to stop at on your way up. We bought sack lunches prior to leaving and ate them on the way. It was amazing to see the rain forest so up close while riding in a convertible with the top down.We hope to return one day, and we would love to take our children. That island is begging to make family memories and we are first in line to do so!
Our Family Traditions
If you haven't been able to tell by now, our family is our number one priority in our lives. We grew up in close families and developed several family traditions over the years. Some of our favorite traditions include Christmas brunch with Adam's family, and eating unique birthday cakes in Megan's family birthday parties.
On Christmas morning, we have a beautiful brunch with Adam's family. Adam's mom makes enough food to feed a small army - ham, monkey bread, coffee cake, fruit, egg casserole, bacon - to name a few dishes we traditionally eat. It is so special to gather around the table and thank God for bringing us together on Christmas morning. We plan to continue this tradition with our children, but we imagine we will probably open quite a few gifts before we head out to brunch. We can't wait for those days!Megan grew up each year having a big birthday party with friends and family. Her mom would let her pick whatever cake she wanted. One year, her mom even let her have a Backstreet Boys ice cream cake that was funfetti flavored. We plan on continuing this tradition with our children - big birthday parties, and whatever cake they want!
Our House and Neighborhood
We live in a brand new subdivision outside of a major city in Kansas. We picked this area to live in partly because of the amount of new families we saw moving in. There are children everywhere and we constantly see them playing together throughout the neighborhood. We also have several parks close by, walking trails, as well as two swimming pools within walking distance that we look forward to taking our child to.
When we built our house, we chose a lot that backs up to a pond because we love to wake up every morning and see the beautiful water. We also love to go fishing and it is so nice that we can do it right in our own backyard. We look forward to teaching our children how to fish there. Our house has four bedrooms and four bathrooms. We made sure to put all of the bedrooms on the same level, so we can be close to our childrens' rooms. Our favorite room to spend time in is our kitchen and living room. It is one big open area and we love to entertain friends and family in that space!
Our Extended Families
We both grew up in close-knit families and are blessed to live within 20 minutes of both sets of our parents. We love to spend time with them, whether it's catching a local sporting event or sharing a meal together. Megan's parents live in a suburb near several popular shopping centers, restaurants and parks. Megan grew up having frequent Sunday dinners with her grandparents and will always cherish those memories. She is one of two children - she has a married older brother. Her extended family is large. She has over 15 first cousins alone!
Adam grew up in a small town, but at the age of 15, his family relocated to a major city in Texas. He grew up with several pets including horses, goats, cattle, cats and dogs. His family is close as well, and we are excited that his parents have moved to be near us. They live in a rural area with many acres to explore. Adam has a younger sister. She, her husband, and their two little boys are special to us and we cherish the time we have with them. We recently hosted our nephew's first birthday party and it was a blast! We love making memories with them!
Because we're close with our families, we have an immense amount of support in our adoption journey. They share in our excitement to welcome a child into the family.
From Us to You
Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for even considering us to parent your child. We understand what a difficult and immensely important choice this is, and we know you are probably worried and anxious to make this decision. Even though we have never met, we want you to know that we have been praying for you. It has been our prayer that God would bless our birth parents, wherever they are, and comfort them when the choice arises as to who will parent their child.
To even imagine the opportunity to become parents brings tears to our eyes. This is something we have dreamed about for so long. When we were dating, we both saw qualities in each other that we knew would make an amazing parent one day. After we were married, we battled infertility for over three years. It was a long, lonely, frustrating, and often painful journey. But when our last treatment failed, it became clear to us that God had a very special path He wanted us to walk - adoption. The sadness of our infertility has turned into excitement for what is to come through our adoption. Our favorite saying lately is "the best is yet to come." We know that adoption will complete our family. We are constantly praying for that day to come, and we pray that you are the one to make our dreams a reality.
We will love your baby more than words could possibly express. Not a single day will go by where we won't think about the irreplaceable gift we were given when we were chosen as adoptive parents, and not a single day will go by in which our child won't be reminded of how loved he or she is. Not just by us - but by you as well. We look forward to watching our child grow, celebrating milestones, and seeing them become their own unique person - whoever that may be. We aren't the only ones looking forward to being parents - our families are so anxiously awaiting the arrival of our child. Your baby will be raised surrounded by more love than we can describe. We look forward to sharing in family traditions, going to Grandma and Grandpa's house for dinner, playing with cousins, celebrating holidays together, and making priceless memories.
We both work within 30 minutes of our home, but Megan plans on staying home once we are parents. She has waited her whole life to be a mother, and she wants to soak up every minute with her child. She has friends who stay home with their children as well, and she can't wait to have play dates with them and watch them grow up together. We also live very close to parks, swimming pools, a pond, and many walking trails. We look forward to the day when we can teach our kids how to swim, push them in a swing at the park, read to them before bed time, ride bikes with them, and just spend as much time with them as we can.
If you are considering us to parent your child, we would love to get to know you more. We are open to speaking on the phone in order to do so. In the long run, if you feel we are a good fit, we are willing to provide pictures from milestones in their life via mail, email, or whatever means you are most comfortable with. We are also open to the possibility of occasional phone calls and visits. We don't want our child to ever have to wonder who their birth parents are, so we will be sure they know who you are, what their birth story was, and how much you love them. We know that without you, we would not have the opportunity to be parents. And that is something we can't even begin to thank you for. Thank you for visiting our profile, and thank you for considering us. We hope to talk to you soon.
